This water taxi was such a good value for the experience of an hour roundtrip ride on the Potomac. The staff could not have been nicer and made us feel very safe. Each time I come to the Washington, Alexandria and National Harbor areas I book something with City Cruises because they really offer a great sightseeing tour. In this case we were at the Tall Ship Festival and just wanted a ride and the water taxi was so fun and fit our time schedule. Highly recommend City Cruises.
The information said the taxi began running at 6am, the reality was first departure at the Wharf was 11:45am. We had to wait around for the first taxi ride. But it was a great day on the water, we went to Alexandria, then to National Harbor. We wanted to go Mt Vernon, but the lady at the window had given us the wrong info to make that happen. All in all we have a lively time in the water, it ran on time for pick ups and was smooth sailing.
Poor information. Confusing info. We got the alexandria and the taxi wont start probably till late noon!!! Such a dissapointment and waste of time. NOT RECOMMEND. I LIKE A REFUND
The starting point at the Old Town Alexandria Marina was a nice place to visit before the excursion. The water ride was very enjoyable as the water viewpoints were so interesting. The narration along the ride was fine. There are plenty of photo opportunities. The ending point in Georgetown was another developed area.
The board itself is great but I recommend you buy your ticket at the kiosk. I purchased through the website but never received confirmation email or my tickets and I ended up having to buy two more tickets at the kiosk because they were of no help whatsoever. They did deduct the money from my debit card, that part worked great. Bottom line: customer service is nonexistent here.
The water taxi was a fun alternative to get to Alexandria, on the Potomac. It was a cool, but lovely evening, and we road the taxi to Alexandria and ate a terrific array of Happy Hour treats at the beautiful Chart House, located at the dock, waterside. We also enjoyed a historic walk in old-town Alexandria, even locating the church where George Washington attended. Highly recommend.
It was advertised as Cherry Blossom water taxi, sure we saw some cherry blossom BUT from afar. Our trip was from Old Town to The Wharf and back, we enjoyed the ride mainly because of the company, not the ride itself. We didnt want to drive the DC traffic so this was a better route if you just want to hang out and see some stuff from the water. We have taken different lunch and dinner cruises so this was a bit of no fuss experience.
Very little outside seating. Not very informative we were trying to make sure we were boarding the correct tour and the woman rushed us forward- needless to say she put us on the wrong water taxi. We were supposed to go from wharf to Alexandria instead we went to Georgetown and weren’t able to get off since this was their last trip.
The website description of the tour was completely inaccurate. The length of the tour, the attractions, and the return logistics were all wrong. Luckily the captain mentioned all of this to us before we left so we got off the boat. We emailed and are are hoping we can get our money back.
Great views and comfortable ride with a useful commentary - if it's cold you can site inside and still see the monuments.
