Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza were originally fishing villages and that tradition remains strong in the cuisine of the Cinque Terre. Anchovies have been the primary staple since Roman times. The pasta sauce that is most representative of the Liguria region is Pesto sauce, dark green and aromatic, and the delicious Limoncello. You will be enchanted by colorful coast with crystal clear water, picturesque landscapes, bays and small beaches, terraced vineyards climbing up from the sea, amazing hikes and great food.

Riomaggiore, a picturesque fishing village with tall, narrow, pastel-colored houses is probably best known for its colorful marina and the unique harbor.
Manarola is the oldest of the five fishing villages listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The marina has a rocky coastline with crystal clear water, picturesque landscape with colorful houses that climb to the cliffsides and terraced vineyards climbing up from the sea. You will take the boat or train (depending on the weather) to the next village, Vernazza.
Vernazza, is the most picturesque village of the Cinque Terre, the only town with a natural port, it is surrounded by lush vineyards and olive oil trees. The village is famous for its bars and restaurants and offers some of the freshest seafood in the area.
As you step into the square, you'll be greeted by the majestic sight of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The iconic tower, with its distinctive tilt, stands gracefully amidst the beautifully manicured lawns and the stunning architectural marvels that make up the square. Stroll around and take in the exteriors of the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Baptistery of St. John, both showcasing intricate details and Romanesque artistry. The lush greenery of the piazza provides a perfect backdrop for memorable photos, especially with the Leaning Tower in view. We did a private transfer from Tuscany to Monterosso Al Mare. Leonardo was professional and knowledgeable. He reached out before our trip to confirm our location and arrived right in time. He was a wealth of knowledge. He parked in Monterosso and walked with us to our hotel through the ZTL zone to make sure we got there which we appreciated very much. I will definitely use this service again when we return to Italy.
The tour was magnificent! I will recommend to everyone visiting Florence to take some time away from the fast paced city to breathe in the cool coastal air and take in the pictureske village view. Leonardo was a perfect gentleman, and excellent driver. I did not even notice he was driving a standard until the end of the day! I recommend requesting him as your guide.
