Víctor was fabulous! He had a deep knowledge of Basque history and customs, and made us feel very comfortable. The guide at the cider museum (forgot her name) was also lovely. Thank you!
While the cider house experience was fantastic, this company seems to only handle pick and drop off from San Sebastián to the cider house. Communication was really poor - we didn't realize they would send a taxi for us with no guide. Nor did we know what time a taxi would be at the cider house to take us back, and didn’t answer when we called to ask, so we ended up calling our own cab. I would 100% recommend the cider experience, but would also recommend that visitors book their own transport. Waste of money going through this company.
We felt rushed through the tour part. They were ready to start another tour. It was not what I expected.
Pick up was too early so we were left waiting for 30mins at the cider house. Welcome not particularly warm
Hey Emma! Thanks for taking the time to write to us. We’ll keep your comments in mind as we continue improving.
Cider shops are very famous in San Sebastian. Knowing the apple trees and the cider production process was very interesting. Both the Guide and the cider shop worker were very friendly and their explanations were enjoyable and precise. It is advisable to do so for who visits San Sebastian.
¡Gracias por la reseña! Nos alegra que todo haya salido bien y que te hayas llevado un buen recuerdo
At least one cider house tour is a must when visiting San Sebastian. However, we felt that this probably was not a good one, and was a bit overpriced for what you get. We paid about 100 Euros a person. For that, we got a taxi ride to the Cider House to and from our hotel (which probably would have been about 14 Euros each way), and the Cider House pre-set menu (which, if purchased separately, would have been 39.50 Euros each), and a tour with a surly guide who did not want to let us take videos. WHen we were taking video during the tour, she asked us not to do it, so we had to wait until she was done talking before we could video the experience. Then, she kept rushing us, telling us she had to move along, and the fact that we had to wait until she was done to video slowed us down. We were the only two on the tour, by the way. So, generally, the experience was not pleasant on the tour. The food and cider were OK, but not worth what we paid. Finally, communication from the tour company was not great. They told us when they would pick us up and drop us off, but they did not tell us that there would be no tour guide to do so. As a result, we got to the pickup point and waited, and nobody showed. We called, and nobody answered. Ten minutes later, we had the hotel call, and they were told that there was a taxi waiting for us. We found the taxi, but neither we nor the driver had known to contact each other to start the ride. He was pleasant enough, however once the ride began. When it was time to go, we asked the man at the Cider House if he was going to call the taxi to take us back, or if it was pre-arranged by the tour company. He did not know. Eventually our driver to take us back arrived (on time, and this time we knew this was probably the guy, and got in the taxi). He was very pleasant, and we had a nice conversation going back to our hotel. In all, an OK experience, and a bit overpriced for what you get.
The minibus pick up our group of 6 people spot on time and the return trip was also punctual. The tour of the Petritegi cider factory was interesting and informative. This was followed by a traditional Basque 2 hour lunch of local sausage hors d'oeuvre, salt cod omelette, fried cod with peppers and onions, T-bone steaks that were superb and finally idiazabel cheese with quince jelly and fresh walnuts. Also wine or cider included with the meal. The time overall was 4 hours. A great way to spend a few hours
Fun times at the Cider House. We have been on two different occasions to the Petritegi Cider House separated by 5 years and found it both times to be great. We always learn about the Basque cider approach and meet nice people. And they have great Basque cider.
Agency was efficient and had great communication. The tour was lovely and we had a brilliant guide. Meal was delicious and overall environment and experience would recommend. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your comment! We are glad to read that everything was to your liking, from the communication to the performance of the activity itself. We hope to have you back soon!
It was so fun! We live in the USA and love cider in general but this was very unique experience. You learned about the process and get taste typical cider house menu and drink cider(unlimited!) from the barrel! All natural no sulfite(contains little but not added sulfite like other ciders that you can find in th USA) we loved it!
Your comments make us really proud. Thank you very much!
