Our tour guide Ash was terrific. Learned about Māori tattoos and had some delicious ice cream, chocolate and wine. Learned about reconstruction of Christchurch following earthquakes in 2010/11. Ash was fun, knowledgeable and funny. Thank you!! Sue Susan Carolyn and Christi
It was wonderful, chilled,, informative and really enjoyable Ash was so warm and welcoming and so knowledgeable
This was an excellent adventure for us. Our guide, Riwai, was phenomenal and so informative and interesting. We enjoyed spending the evening with him very much. He really showed us around Christchurch and relayed the history of the area and it was just wonderful. He took us to two delicious restaurants and even ice cream later. It was just wonderful! It was well worth every minute and we only wish we would have had more time in Christchurch to explore more and take advantage of some of our guide's suggestions. Beautiful area!
Our Guidin was very personable and knew a lot about Maori culture and Christchurch. We've heard a lot of stories, sometimes I've been a little quick.
We had a very good walk about the town and our guide was very knowledgeable! We had a sweet treat at the start with delicious cold chocolate drink. The historical facts were nuanced and relevant to present residents. The storytelling was personalized and we certainly enjoyed the overall experience. Thanks for taking us on a nice wander.
Ashley was our guide and she was AMAZING! Everywhere she took us was so good and she made the best suggestions.
An amazing walking tour. We met Riwai at the bridge and immediately knew we were in great hands — he is such a genuine and inspiring person. Riwai didn’t just show us Christchurch; he shared its stories, culture, and meaning. He took us to little nooks throughout the city and explained the significance behind what might otherwise seem like small design details, including the Māori meanings woven into them. So much of what he spoke about deeply resonated with both my wife and me. The tour was so well run and engaging that when Riwai mentioned he was running a foodie tour next, we immediately asked if we could join — and luckily we could. An absolute must if you’re visiting Christchurch.
Kia ora Alex and Paris Ngā mihi nui korua | Thank you both for choosing to spend time in Christchurch and thank you so much for your beautiful feedback. Riwai loved connecting with you both and we are thrilled to hear that your Āmiki experience left such a strong impression. He has a remarkable gift for weaving together stories, culture, and place and connecting guests to the heart of Ōtautahi, Christchurch. Your words will mean the world to him. It’s wonderful to know that the way he shared our whanaungatanga — connection — and manaakitanga — care and hospitality — along with his storytelling and our Māori narrative resonated so deeply with you both. We’re also delighted you were able to join the foodie tour afterwards — it’s always so special when guests feel inspired to continue the journey with us. Your recommendation is truly appreciated. Thank you for choosing to explore our home town with us and for recognising the heart and intention behind what we do. Mā te wā — we hope to see you again soon.
We met our guide,Riwai, at Memorial Bridge and immediately were immersed into Christchurch. A great coffee from the market set us off and we walked and talked for the next 90 mins. Riwai was a great guide, showing us all the things we would not have found ourselves, I highly recommend this tour.
Can’t think of a better way to begin one’s first (or 21st) visit to Christchurch. Our guide, Riwai of Āmiki Tours led us on an informative, fun, poignant and tasty meandering through this city of history, resilience, natural beauty and food and shopping treats. Our interests were architecture and culture, and he adapted the planned tour to one that focused on our interests. He also gave us a superb introduction to Māori history and culture. Being half Māori himself, he offered an eloquent perspective on the history of the people, their interactions with explorers and their art and culture. The tour finished up Riverside eatery, in a pub with excellent lunch time food and bespoke mocktails. It was a pleasure and privilege to have been introduced to to Christchurch (and New Zealand) by us a knowledgeable, humorous, empathetic and well-travelled expert. Do not miss out on the tour of a lifetime!!
'Gracie' had a vibrant passion for his heritage and his town. We learned a lot about the rebuilding of the city and the impact the residents had on it's redevelopment.
Kia ora Matthew, Riwai loved sharing our stories and city with you. We hope you enjoy your time throughout the rest of our beautiful country Mā te wā | Until next time
