Juan was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much! Highly recommend!
Sergio was the best guide! Very informative and willing to answer all of our questions. The tour ended up being just our family, which was nice. It was super cool learning about the history and life cycle of cacao, vanilla, and learning about how coffee grows in Costa Rica. The demonstrations were awesome, and the chocolate was delicious! We went on the 1 pm tour, and it wasn’t too hot because the whole tour is shaded. Highly recommend this if you’re looking for an interesting, informative, and delicious tour!
wonderful experience - our guide, Juan, was friendly & knowledgeable. we learned all sorts of things about cacao (and coffee), and got to taste it, too. would recommend highly. plus, they picked us up & fed us a nice lunch - what a deal.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad you enjoyed learning from Juan and loved the tastings and lunch. We really try to make the whole experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible, so your high recommendation means the world to us!
So the thing is, this was fine, but it wasn’t what we paid for. The tour was less than 90 minutes, and all the cool things you see in the pictures, we didn’t get to see. We had a brief tour of the plantation, then delicious samples of chocolate and coffee, and that was it. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but clearly something was up that resulted in us not getting the actual full experience. We had paid extra for the lunch, but the tour ended at 9:30am, so we weren’t exactly hungry. I feel pretty ripped off.
It was a good tour and I learned a lot. I think it could have been better if it were organized better. In hindsight, I would have spent my time doing something else.
Thank you for visiting us! We are happy that the tour was informative for you, though we regret that the organization felt lacking. We value your time and your feedback, and we’ll be using your comments to refine our process and make the experience even better. Wishing you the best on the rest of your travels! Pura vida!
Based on all the positive reviews, this was quite a disappointment. The tour, which was supposed to be 3 hours, ended up being only 90 minutes. The photos that showed the chocolate and coffee process never happened during our tour. No opening of the cacao bean, no demonstration of the grinding process, and no explanation of the different coffee roasting. Our tour guide, while knowledgeable, seemed distracted and almost felt like he was trying to fill time. While the chocolate was DELICIOUS and the coffee was tasty, it felt more like a cooking demo than learning about the coffee/cacao process. Additionally, with a tour that started at 8 am, finishing 90 minutes later, we were then supposed to have a provided lunch, which didn't make sense at 9:30 am. Therefore, we ended up skipping the included lunch altogether.
Thank you for the review. We want to mention that the tour duration includes our lunch service, which explains the earlier finish since you preferred to skip it. Our guides always prioritize education, including explaining why we occasionally can't open a cacao bean if the fruit isn't perfectly ready for harvesting that day. We are happy to hear you found the guide knowledgeable and the coffee delicious, and we’ll keep your feedback in mind regarding the 8 am lunch timing. Pura vida!
Awesome experience.Juan was a knowledgeable tour guide. Will be drinking coffee and cocoa differently when we arrive at home. Understood and explained the importance of sustainable harvesting. Had lunch at the Bonding Cafe Great food, great atmosphere. Highly recommend

Tour guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and engaging. I never thought learning about chocolate and coffee could be so interesting! My 11 and 14 year old children also enjoyed this tour. Location was very clean and well maintained.

We are thrilled to hear that the tour was engaging for both you and your children—it’s always a pleasure to see young explorers enjoying the world of chocolate and coffee. We also appreciate your comments on our facilities; we take great pride in keeping everything well-maintained for our guests. We'll be sure to share your kind words with our guide! ¡Pura vida!
Great experience for the whole family and the lunch was delicious, even for my picky kid!
We are so happy you enjoyed the tour and the food! Knowing that the lunch passed the 'picky kid' test made our day. Thank you for choosing us for your family outing, and we hope to see you again!
This was a very family-friendly and entertaining tour. We appreciate the time and patience that the guide took with us, and we thank them very much.
