Very disappointing experience with Go City customer support

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Go City customer support regarding reservations made through their app. I was trying to book attractions for 19th May, and the app initially asked me to enter the intended pass date. However, despite this, the bookings for 360 Chicago and Skydeck Chicago were somehow made for 7th May instead. The app design is confusing and not intuitive, as it appears to ignore the selected pass date during attraction booking. When I realised the mistake, I immediately contacted support. The chatbot system was frustrating to navigate, repeatedly failing to recognise my order details before finally directing me to a live agent. Unfortunately, the live support experience was equally disappointing. Although I explained clearly that this was an honest mistake caused by the confusing booking flow, the agent simply repeated the cancellation policy and refused to help in any way. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of empathy or flexibility. I understand businesses have policies, but when an app design issue contributes to a customer error, I would expect at least some attempt to assist, especially when significant money is involved. Instead, I was effectively told that because the bookings were marked as “no show,” nothing could be done. To make matters worse, the agent abruptly closed the chat after asking if there was anything else they could assist with, without giving me a proper opportunity to respond or continue the conversation. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, the customer service felt scripted, inflexible, and unwilling to consider genuine circumstances. The booking system needs to be made much clearer, and support staff should be empowered to handle obvious user errors more reasonably. Very disappointing experience.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re disappointed to hear about your experience and sincerely sorry that both the booking process and customer service left you feeling frustrated and unsupported. We understand how confusing this situation must have been, particularly as both attractions do allow booking changes within specific timeframes in the Go City app. For 360 CHICAGO, bookings can be cancelled or amended up to 30 minutes before the scheduled booking time, and for Skydeck Chicago, changes can be made up to 1 hour before the reservation time. These details are available on both our website and within the Go City app, and we appreciate how upsetting it would have been to realise the reservations had been made for the wrong date. We’re also very sorry to hear about your disappointing customer service experience. We care deeply about how our customers are treated, and it’s concerning to hear that the interaction felt dismissive and lacking in empathy. This is not the standard of support we aim to provide. Your feedback regarding the booking flow, chatbot experience, and the handling of your case has been shared with the relevant teams for review as we continue working to improve both our app experience and customer support. If you would like to share more about your experience, please kindly contact us at reviews@gocity.com

Great experience, we enjoyed a lot!! Excellent service, we didn't have problems with our tickets. If you could add the institute of art to the attractions, that would be great.

GoCity-the worst experience imaginable

Horrible service, limited selection of advance attraction (only 9 of 50 were advance). Going direct to attraction site gets discounts and guaranteed placement and you don't have to deal with a helpline that really can't do anything for you other than say check the ap. Very poor experience.

Operator response

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that your Go City experience didn’t meet your expectations. While some attractions require advance reservations to guarantee entry, many others can be visited directly with the pass. The benefit of Go City is that it allows you to access multiple attractions for one price, saving both time and money compared to purchasing tickets individually. The pass also provides flexibility to explore at your own pace, skip queues at many locations, and plan your visit conveniently through the app. We encourage customers to check the app and the Know Before You Go section, which outlines which attractions need advance booking and offers helpful tips to make the most of their visit. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our team to continue improving the Go City experience for all visitors.

Chicago

The pass was hard to redeem on some attractions. Mainly the Seadog boat rides. In theory is a good deal since you can use as many as you can fit in your schedule. However, there are only so many hours in a day and k7ds don't have that much stamina.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad you saw the value in the pass—it’s a great way to explore as many attractions as your schedule allows. That said, a little planning goes a long way, especially when traveling with kids. We offer a variety of pass options to fit different needs and paces, and our support team is always happy to help you make the most of your visit. For the Seadog boat rides, we recommend checking the “Know Before You Go” section in advance. When you arrive at Navy Pier, head to the ticket booth just past the Centennial Wheel and present your pass to secure a spot on the next available cruise. For the most up-to-date departure times, please visit the Seadog Extreme Thrill Ride website. We hope this helps you and others enjoy a smooth and memorable experience!
