Start your trip with a relaxing stop at Mae Khachan Hot Spring. This natural site is on the way from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, offering a calm place to stretch and take a break. The hot spring’s warm water is a highlight, and you can see locals cooking eggs in the hot water.
Next on our journey is Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple. This is not just any temple; it’s a work of art created by a famous Thai artist. The temple stands out with its bright white color and shiny glass pieces in the plaster. As you walk around, you’ll see intricate designs and sculptures that are very different from typical Thai temples. Inside, the artwork mixes traditional and modern themes, making you think and reflect. It’s a place that captures attention and leaves a lasting impression. We will also enjoy a local Thai lunch close to the white temple.
Our adventure continues as we head to Wat Rong Suea Ten, widely known as the Blue Temple. This remarkable temple is a true feast for the eyes, covered in various shades of blue with delicate carvings and murals. Unlike traditional temples, the Blue Temple showcases a more contemporary and artistic side of Thai culture. The vibrant blue colors symbolize the Buddhist concept of wisdom and calmness, inviting a sense of peace as you explore. Next on our journey is Baan Dam, also known as the Black House. This unique location is a combination of a museum, art gallery, and residence, showcasing the work of the late artist Thawan Duchanee. The structures here are predominantly dark, made from wood, and have a mysterious yet intriguing ambiance. Inside, you’ll discover a vast collection of artworks, antiques, and curiosities ranging from paintings and sculptures to animal skins and bones. Each piece tells a story, reflecting both Thai culture and the artist’s unconventional perspective.
Following our artistic exploration, we journey to the Karen Long Neck Village. This small community is home to the Karen tribe, known for their distinctive tradition of elongating their necks using brass coils.
The last stop of our tour is the famous Golden Triangle. This place is special because Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet here. The big Mekong River runs through it, creating a natural border. We will take a short but beautiful boat ride on the river. From the boat, you can see the different countries and learn about this area's history. The boat ride is calm, and you can take pictures and enjoy the scenery. It is a peaceful way to end our tour before we head back to Chiang Mai.

Very nice day despite the trip. The guide was affable with comments and information. We liked quite a lot except the thermal water stop and the black shop, it's a matter of taste.
Incredible experience!! Be prepared for a good amount of time in the travel van but well worth it!! The Temples were amazing! Charge the phone or camera!! Anna, our tour guide was phenomenal!! She kept us on schedule and gave great descriptions of the sites!!
This was a long day, but well worth it to see a very different side of Thailand from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and the beach destinations. The itinerary covered the Chiang Rai temples, the Black House Museum, a visit to a Karen village, and the Golden Triangle boat tour, making for a full but well-paced experience. The temples were beautiful and very much Instagram-worthy, each with its own distinct style. The stop at the Karen village was interesting and offered a glimpse into a different culture and way of life. The Golden Triangle boat ride was a highlight, giving us the chance to see Laos and Myanmar from the river—and even briefly travel through Laotian territorial waters without officially entering the country. Pick-up and drop-off were on time, which was especially appreciated given the length of the day. Overall, a well-organized tour that delivers a lot in one day and is a great option if you want to explore northern Thailand beyond the usual tourist hubs.
It’s a long day, but well worth it. Fawn did a nice job. The van was crowded & I gave it a 4 as I was sitting towards the back. It would have been nice if the people in the front had to switch seats with those in the back.
Anyone who wants to see it should note that all the temples visited are just beautiful museums for tourists, they are not real temples. The village of long-necked women is just a market for tourists, where long-necked women sell souvenirs.
Although it was a long day, this was well worth the day we spent visiting all the places. The white temple and blue temples were amazing! The golden triangle with boat ride was very informative. Thank you Fon for an informative tour.

The guide was very enthusiastic and open to questions throughout the day, the temples are very impressive and you get plenty of time to explore them. The lunch was diverse and more than enough, and it was very cool to actually hit the water at the Golden Triangle. It's a long day but it's worth it!
