Cesarine: Dining & Cooking Demo at Local's Home in Messina

Our hostess, Consuelo Cavazza gave us an incredible experience with her warm and engaging hospitality and delicious cuisine. She showed us and let us help her make tiramisu. She prepared an exquisite meal of gnocchi and tomato sauce as well as meatballs. She prepared numerous appetizers and we also enjoyed a refreshing cocktail, red wine and coffee. We enjoyed our time so much with Consuelo that we consider her a true friend. I highly recommend that if you do this excursion, ask for Consuelo and you won’t be disappointed!

We had Mariella as our guide and cooking instructor and she was the absolute sweetest soul. She was patient, caring, informative, and an overall delight to be with for the day. We booked this experience to celebrate my birthday and Mariella far exceeded our expectations and made it the best birthday ever! The food was so fresh and absolutely delicious. We ate so much good food and learned great culinary skills as well. I will continue to rave about the amazing food, informative cooking experience, and overall warm vibe to friends and family. Cooking with a local when visiting Sicily is a must and having Mariella as your guide will ensure you have the absolute best experience possible.

Very disappointed. We arrived in plenty of time at the correct address. They did not answer the door or come to see if we were there. Not only did we miss the cooking demonstration and lunch, but we wasted the taxi fare to and from the venue. We could not find a phone number. I looked at all paperwork and the taxi driver also tried to find their number. Is this a scam?

We had the absolute best time with Rosella, Giuseppe and Nonna❤️. They were very warm and welcoming of us into their home. The authentic Sicilian cuisine was cooked to perfection and we never had a better meal... this is coming from a Sicilian. We have been to many cooking/ food experiences but this was the very best. We wish we could rate more than 5 stars! We will remember this experience always and cannot wait to come back!

Consuelo was such a wonderful host and cook! My husband and I booked this for one of our activities on our honeymoon. We ate a meal prepared by her and it was so yummy!! She prepared us multiple dishes such as deviled eggs, cheese, meatballs, pasta, etc (there was more). Dessert was the best with tiramisu! It was so nice to have a relaxing meal and get to know one another. The property she lives on is gorgeous. Would highly recommend if you take a trip to Messina!

If you book this tour, BE SURE to specifically request Consuelo Cavazza. It was purely by luck that we were matched with her and I am not exaggerating when I say the afternoon we spent with Consuelo was an absolutely MAGICAL day and the #1 highlight of all of the things we did travelling through Spain, Greece and Italy (and we had tons of fun on our trip-but this was the best)! It was like an arm chills and happy tears super cool day. She picked us up in her cute little yellow car right by our cruise terminal. She brought us to the Messina Cathedral just in time to see and hear the bells, an experience you will not want to miss! And when we entered her beautiful home, the table was perfectly set and there were appetizers set out for us. It was very obvious that Consuelo has done this many times before and knows EXACTLY how to make strangers feel welcome in her home. She has a cute little dog, Nina! Consuelo speaks some English but to better facilitate communication she invited her friend and her friends daughter (Italians who had spent some years in the US) to join us and it was just perfect! The food was amazing but the conversation was even better. Consuelo is simply a good human and it shines through in every way. We had appetizers on her patio and some kind of fruity (delicious and I don't even like fruity) drink that was amazing. We chatted and just hung out, looking around her amazing property that includes several buildings, a chicken coop and even a peacock! We even met her sweet Mom! We ate lunch in her dining room which was delightful. We talked for quite some time and just thoroughly enjoyed their company. This trip was a graduation present for my daughter so it was my husband and I and our daughter and every one of us considers that day to be the best we spent on our whole vacation. If you book this (and if you don't you're nuts) request Consuelo, I am certain you will love her like we did. We will return to Messina one day, if only to visit with her again!

It’s honestly difficult to specify the most memorable moments from our visit with Cesarine but the welcoming interaction and hospitality we experienced is something we will never forget. The food was outstanding and bountiful. Her puppy was adorable as well.

We had an amazing experience with Mariella. Her tutorial while preparing the food was very informative and using translation apps we spoke to each other without any problems and had lovely conversations and enjoyed getting to know about the area of Messina, the food and preparation, and even learning about her family. The food was delicious, from appetizers and homemade ravioli, to the main course and dessert. An experience we will never forget and would love to try again.

Consuelo was the BEST! She invited total strangers to her home and we left as friends and better cooks! We made pumpkin ravali, macaroni and spaghetti with meatballs. We had to use Google Translate but it was no problem at all. She was always keeping us up to date using What's Ap. Here home is warm and friendly and we would definitely recommend Consuelo if you are ever in the Port of Messina.
