Cristian made our long day very fun and enjoyable. Very knowledgeable and experienced, he was able to add a stop to the interesting and bizarre Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu Memorial Museum and still get us to the original 3 stops! I would book him every time. Thank you Cristian. We will see you soon!
This trip was everything stated in the itinerary and more. If you are thinking about this trip then you already want to see some of the key sites. What made this trip different, was our tour guide. Cristian was wonderful! His knowledge of the country, its history, and more made this trip relaxing, informative and fun. Spending essentially the entire day with him was pleasant with his outgoing personality and flexible approach.
We had a great day, exploring Transylvania. What really made the trip though was our driver, Christian. He made sure we were comfortable, presented us with options throughout the day but never pushed a particular choice nor showed any frustration when we decided not to take him up on some things. Peles castle was closed on the day we visited, however, we were still able to tour the grounds and have a coffee at the cafe. Bran Castle is a bit touristy but was a fun hour or two. Personally, while I enjoyed the torture exhibit, the time tunnel is worth the extra $. The tunnel was cheesy. It was a long day but very much worth the cost.
We had a private tour of the Transylvania castles and a visit to Brasnov. Our guide was Diana who took us in her car so not only was she the guide but also the driver. We had a wonderful time thanks to her she was kind considerate and helpful and a very competent driver. We visited Peles Castle where it is essential to get tickets in advance. It was an interesting experience but extremely busy. In our tour around Brasnov Diana explained the history of the place and the Black Church. We then went to Dracula's castle and looked at it from the outside too many steps for us. An enjoyable day well worth the visit.
One day is too short to do this trip. Much of the drive is flat and monotonous. Our driver was texting for much of that time, which was scary. However, getting into the region to explore further would be worth it.
The driver skill is ok, but he texting and watching cellphone all the time while driving with our castle trip at Bucarest
We highly recommend this excursion and can especially send kudos for our driver/guide, Cristian. It was a long day with some winding roads but we were very comfortable in the vehicle and under Cristian's care. Plenty of offers to stop and take a break. Loved the destinations with the castles (be sure to buy your tickets in advance to ensure entry and avoid the lines) and also the town of Brasov (great lunch recommendations made by Cristian). Book it!
Christian was the perfect tour guide! His English is very good which was helpful as he provided a lot of historical information and insight into the culture. He timed our arrivals at both castles perfectly to beat the crowds. He allotted plenty of time for breaks and lunch.
We had excellent communication before the trip, including confirming the correct time to book tickets to Peles Castle, text updates for pickup, and an introduction to our driver, Claudiu. He met us directly at our hotel and we began the journey towards Peles Castle, stopping halfway for a coffee break. Peles Castle was absolutely beautiful and well worth the entrance fee. After the visit, we met back up with Claudiu and continued on to Bran Castle. While Bran Castle looks stunning from the outside, we found the interior a little underwhelming in comparison. Our final stop was Brasov, which is a truly beautiful place. We were recommended a fantastic restaurant called La Ceaun, the food and service were both excellent and we spent around 90 minutes there before heading back. There is quite a lot of driving on this tour, but Claudiu regularly offered to stop whenever needed and made the journey enjoyable with his knowledge, humour, and friendly personality. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.
Nice trip but long day. Peles castle fab, bran castle ok and brasov ok. Driver was nice, but taxi car was old and little uncomfortable for such a long day.
