Itinerary
Cape Coast Castle is one of 40 "slave castles", or large commercial forts, built on the Gold Coast of West Africa (Ghana) by European traders. It was originally a Portuguese "feitoria" or trading post, established in 1555, which was named Cabo Corso. In 1653, a timber fort was constructed by the Swedish Africa Company. It originally was a centre for timber and gold trade, and then was later used in the Atlantic slave trade. Other Ghanaian slave castles include Elmina Castle and Fort Christiansborg. They were used to harbour enslaved Africans before they were loaded onto ships and sold in the Americas, especially the Caribbean. This "gate of no return" was the last stop before crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Coast Castle, along with other forts and castles in Ghana, are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. I will take you directly into the castle, where the accredited tour guide will take you on a guided tour. I will await your return and we will move on to the next destination.
Located in the thick tropical jungle of Kakum National Park, the canopy walk was actually designed by a pair of Canadian engineers and five Ghanaians. Looking to increase tourism (specifically ecotourism) in the largely ignored national park, the designers wanted to create a unique feature that would make the park a destination, thus an elevated trail through the canopy was devised. Opened on Earth Day in 1995, the canopy walkway consists of seven separate bridges that hang from the trees over 130 feet above the ground. Across over 1,000 feet of walkway. After a short but strenuous uphill hike, we will arrive at the canopies amongst the trees! The local guide will take you around and answer any questions. I will await your return and we will begin to head back into Accra. Do wear enclosed footwear and not flip flops or open toed shoes.
Elmina Castle was erected by the Portuguese in 1482 as Castelo de São Jorge da Mina (St. George of the Mine Castle), also known as Castelo da Mina or simply Mina (or Feitoria da Mina), in present-day Elmina, Ghana, formerly the Gold Coast. It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, and the oldest European building in existence south of the Sahara. First established as a trade settlement, the castle later became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade. The Dutch seized the fort from the Portuguese in 1637, after an unsuccessful attempt in 1596, and took over all of the Portuguese Gold Coast in 1642. The slave trade continued under the Dutch until 1814. In 1872, the Dutch Gold Coast, including the fort, became a possession of the United Kingdom. I will hand you into the capable hands of the accredited tour guide and be awaiting you when the tour is complete.

We were picked up on time, sadly we were late but Ebo was so pleasant and in bothered. We had a wonderful day. We left feeling quite emotional and Ebo was so kind to us. He's a safe driver and notices little things. He's super helpful and just a warm spirit. We definitely recommend his services.
Ebo was great and worked with us. Great guy and appreciate all his help getting from Accra to our locations.
Great experience, the driver was on time and kind. However I was expecting more clarity on the activities and the itinerary
I highly recommend hiring Ebo if you are looking for a driver in Accra (and surrounding regions). I traveled to Ghana with my 90 year old grandmother, who has limited mobility. We had the pleasure of using Ebo's services for 3 days for 3 different tours (Cape Coast, Accra, and Aburi Gardens). On each tour we were well taken care of and he was kind enough to let us customize our excursions to fit our needs. He is a very knowledgeable, kind, and professional individual, and we were beyond satisfied with his services.
Visiting Cape Coast was very interesting and a memorable experience. Kakum national park, however, was a disappointment: far too many people for a natural spot and thus no chance to see any animal. But the real weak point was the service-orientation of the guide: waited for us at the wrong place, what caused delay and stress during the journey (and didn't even apologize). Wasn't informed about the details of our tour and told us that what we wanted to do wasn't feasable in one day (we booked a tour Cape Coast - Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - Kakum) - however we had booked as announced on the webside. Here again, no excuse and pretending it was our fault. In addition, almost no explanations on the way, warer only bought at the end of the trip. In general, only minimum service during the day. However, as a driver, he is excellent
Thank you for your review and for your booking. A few points to make note of. Unfortunately you supplied me with incorrect pick up information on TripAdvisor. Not only was the information incorrect but it was out of my service area of central Accra. You said Best Western Premier Hotel and you were at Best Western Beach Resort. This was sadly not my fault. Kakum Canopy Walk is a walk amongst the trees. Unfortunately it is not a safari however I do recall you saying how much you enjoyed it on the day. My tours have a structure, I drive one way to go somewhere and another to return so that I can fit all attractions in. I very clearly asked if you wanted to see Assin Manso Slave River. You said you did not. So we passed that location. You then changed your mind and wanted me to return. Sadly this was not possible due to the structure and timing of the tour I offer. Water was given at Cape Coast Castle. Water was also given at Kakum, you advised me to put 2 bottles in the car and you would share the one bottle. Some clients engage me throughout the journey. And some happily sit talking amongst themselves. You all spoke French throughout the journey. Forgive me for not interrupting or understanding. Kindly Ebo
Ebo is THE BEST!!! Hands down. It was perfect from beginning to end. Ebo met us at our hotel on time and delivered us back. We were also running a little behind and he was sooooo very patient & understanding. His knowledge of beautiful Accra is very impressive and his lunch suggestion at I love Buka was 5Star. Our trip to Cape Coast with nothing but fantastic. He drove very cautious and took very good care of us. He also helped me with the currency exchange and use of the local ATM at the bank. Ebo is very caring and understanding. We had some issues with our return tickets back home due to flight cancellation and Ebo let us utilize his phone because my cell phone wasn’t working. I highly recommend Ebo for superb service and attention to detail. Please book Ebo while visiting Accra! You won’t regret it at all! Ebo, Thank you so much for a memorable visit to Accra! I will never forget my 1st trip to Accra which was very special with much thanks to Ebo! He’s now my brother from another Mother! We are family now! Thanks Ebo! You’re the Best!! Much love!
Our group compromised of my sister and I and our 2 young daughters. Ebo is such a warm hearted person, he looked out for us and ensured we were all safe and having fun. Our daughters really liked Ebo and we all felt super comfortable around him. The tour was very interesting, we went to Elmina and Cape Coast castle and we stopped for lunch on the way home. The car was a 4x4, with perfect ac. Clean, comfortable, with water available. We honestly couldn't ring Ebo's praises loud enough. Awesome guy, saved us from paying over the odds on gifts and trinkets. We highly recommend him for your Cape Coast Tour or anywhere else you might want to go. Thanks Ebo!!
Ebo came to pick us up from the hotel in Accra, it was myself and some other students. We enjoyed seeing some of the really pretty sights Cape Coast has, we took so many photos and videos. Ebo was very informative and we were able to learn about the culture. We were dropped back to our hotel after a fun day! Such a nice guy, we felt safe in his care, the whole time I was truly comfortable and enjoyed a stressfree trip. Would totally recommend to anyone :)
I had booked a cape coast tour on here by another provider… and basically they canceled so Ebo was my driver from airport I mentioned that the tour i booked to cape coast cancelled on me so he told he could take me! I was like really ok cool he told me how much whuch was cheaper than the original tour i booked so i was happy about that then he picked me up sharp on time at 6:30 am and we headed to the coast he suggested we do the slave river tour which i didnt know existed and I am so glad he suggested it because I would have never known about it. We drove therw safely and in air conditioned nice clean car i enjoyed seeing the central region of Ghana it was so much to take in on the journey, Ebo would sometimes slow down for me to take pics on our way there… Ebo knows most of the best tour guides in these places so he selected who i should let guide me at the slaver river and at cape coast slave castle… he alos helped me with my purchases by helping me negotiate from the sellers… he waited patiently for me to shop and enjoy the tour never rushing me just allowing me to enjoy the moment which this day and experience was AMAZING!! My hearr is so full! Thx Ebo for taking me!!
Our day trip consisted of being picked up from our hotel in Central Accra. Ebo was downstairs waiting before time. We were driven in a luxurious 4x4 with comfy seats, ample legroom, cold ac, cold water and charging cables were available to us. Ebo answered all questions about the journey and is quite well informed about the surrounding areas. Kakum Canopy Park was thoroughly enjoyable, its a short hike up to reach the heights for entry to the canopy so do wear sensible shoes. Our guide knew everything about the park, every tree in it and what the historical uses were for the trees, fruit, leaves, even which were used as a drum for communication etc.. Next was Slave River, this was quite a spiritually humbling place. We were given the opportunity to cleanse ourselves by the river as we returned to Africa where so many had left. Our guide was excellent. Final stop was Elmina Castle, our friends back home preferred that castle so we went with it this time round. Again another very spiritually humbling experience with a wonderful guide. I highly recommend this tour with Ebo, we found him to be warm, professional, reliable, and definitely a cut above the rest. 5* service all round.
