The Giza pyramid complex, also called the Giza Necropolis, is the site on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt that includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated pyramid complexes and the Great Sphinx of Giza. All were built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt. The site also includes several cemeteries and the remains of a workers' village. The site is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo. The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they have historically been common as emblems of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. They were popularized in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Khufu's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman; diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been found but the site has not been excavated.[4][5] The valley temple was connected to a causeway which was largely destroyed when the village was constructed.

Khafre's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple and the king's pyramid. The valley temple yielded several statues of Khafre. Several were found in a well in the floor of the temple by Mariette in 1860. Others were found during successive excavations by Sieglin (1909–10), Junker, Reisner,

Menkaure's pyramid complex consists of a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king's pyramid. The valley temple once contained several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added on to the valley temple. The mortuary temple also yielded several statues of Menkaure.

The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx of Giza or just the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human.Facing directly from West to East, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre. Cut from the bedrock, the original shape of the Sphinx has been restored with layers of blocks. It measures 73 m (240 ft) long from paw to tail, 20 m (66 ft) high from the base to the top of the head and 19 m (62 ft) wide at its rear haunches. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture in Egypt and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the pharaoh Khafre (c. 2558–2532 BC).

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2020 the museum is due to be superseded by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.

Must do, please request Sayed as guide!

The tour was amazing, lots of good information about the history of Egypt and Sayed Mahmoud went the extra mile to make it enjoyable. Our driver Abdull made sure we were safely transported and helped in and out the car and that the background music was perfect.

Pyramids, Sphinx, and Egyptian antiques musium

We went to the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Antiques Museum. Our guide, Sayed Mahmoud, explained well at each location. The museum in particular is very large, so by going with a guide we were able to see the key points in the limited time we had. The service was also good, taking us to a local café and taking photos for us.

Amazing

I had an excellent day tour with my tour guide Essam. I had a few hours at my disposal and Essam made sure to stick to the itinerary so that I would see and visit everything on the list. He made sure I was comfortable, got me coffee, snacks and lunch. He's also knowledgeable and explained everything I had know about what I was looking at the pyramids, museum and around town. Special thanks to the driver Mahmood as well, for getting me around quickly, going around the market to look for a particular dessert that I wanted and back in time for my departure flight.

Tonsi is a great guide

We had a group of 7 and booked 2 days of tours with Emo to the pyramids, national museum, bazaar, and mosques. Tonsi was our guide and did an amazing job. He is super friendly and a great communicator. We were picked up on time. He also helped us negotiate at the market. Would recommend him in a heartbeat.

MUSEUM TOUR

Enjoyed a wonderful day at the Egyptian Museum, and the Egyptian market and the hanging church. I am still amazed and pleased by the knowledge Osama has of the Egyptian and the Christian culture. He explained the history regarding all the artifacts in the museum and he brought life to the church as we toured through the ancient churches. During our visit to the Bizarre, Osama served as our guide, our interpreter and our shopping advisor. Hands down, Osama and the EMO Tour company are some of the best in the business!

Tonsi, the Best tour guide with the best company

Tonsi our tour guide from Emo Tours Egypt was phenomenally. We did two private tours with Tonsis in a span of two days. Day 1 we did the Full-Day Tour Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Memphis, and Saqqar. Tonsi our tour guide told us all the best places to take photos, he told us which pyramid we absolutely must enter, he got us with two great Camel drivers and we took some great pictures of the pyramids, he took us to great places to eat and everywhere we went we were treated kindly. When it came time to buy souvenirs, Tonsi and our driver took us to an authentic Papyrus paper manufacturing tour to learn about the papyrus plant, what the outer part was used for, and how the paper is made, and so on.. Then he took us to an authentic Egyptian oil place to get valuable information, got to sample various oils scents then getting great deals on our purchases. Next he took us to jewelry maker to buy Egyptian cartouche pendants with our names in hieroglyphs. Tonsi also did an awesome job of educating us on the history of Egypt. Wishe Viator had booked all of our tours with Emo Tours Egypt. Now that I know how Viator works, I’ve told everyone I know to book tours directly with Emo Tours Egypt and if you’re in Cairo, ask for Tonsi. The two days with Tonsi were informative, I’m educational and worth it

Great First Day!

Today was our first day of our trip in Cairo. Osama was our guide and Mustapha Kuty was our driver. They were both super helpful and friendly. The entire day was easy and full of laughter, thanks to their humor and attitude. They also helped us to take some really great pictures. Osama is a pro at taking great pics!! I would def recommend them both to anyone for upcoming visits to the pyramids.
