Your day trip starts in the early morning as you leave Salta and head through the Lerma Valley, passing by historical towns along the way.
Stop at Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shell's Gorge), where natural erosion over many years has carved out curious shapes in the rocks, including named rock features like the Amphitheater, Devil's Throat, the Toad, and the Castles.

When you arrive in the small town of Cafayate, known for its wine production, take in the views of vineyards and mountains that create a majestic backdrop. Visit a local winery for a tasting and to learn about the production of torrontes, an Argentine white wine with distinctive peach and apricot aromas.
Your day trip ends when you return to Salta in the evening.

Spectacular scenery by the riverbank of the shells. The amphitheater, the devil's throat, the colors of the mountains, everything is of incredible beauty
We stayed the hotel Alexander I. It has very good location on the street of the restaurants, the rocks and the bars. The service and attention are excellent. Always well prepared and collaborative. The rooms have good AA and heating which work very well. The only reproach that was noticed was that it does not provide toothpaste, brush, comb or anything. A small soap for 4 days accommodation. The view from the room is beautiful and the previous detail we forgive you. The breakfast buffet is VERY complete and delicious. The restaurant is good and we took advantage of it the night it rained. Bottom line: we'll be back.
Spectacular landscape. To enjoy at every stop the shapes and colors of the mountain. Ideal for walking a little away from the route.
It was an unforgettable experience! Beautiful ! There was little left, we took the excursion from Salta to Cafayate, each stop to take photos is amazing. If you go to Salta! You can't miss this experience!

I hired the tour by the operator Tangol/Viator. I had to change hotel, I communicated the fact, but the tour was not carried out.I waited in the new hotel, and as there was no attendance of the operator, requested a refund, however the Enterprise refuses to return the amount. I do not recommend the services of this agency. It is neither committed nor reliable. Stay alert with this Enterprise!

Actually we walked it backwards, that is from Cafayate to Salta, along the way you will find amazing geological formations, with unique color contrasts due to the different sediments and epochs of formation. There are well marked places where you have to stop to know like the Devil's Throat and the Amphitheater.

The road has some curves precisely because it fits into the landscape of the place. It is indeed a remote place that knows about magical landscapes and traditional cultures.
