Bukchon Hanok Village: A Storytelling Walk with a Native

Description
☀️ JULY & AUGUST ONLY — SUMMER SPECIAL DISCOUNT ☀️ ⏰ NEW EARLIER START: 9:00 AM (was 10:00 AM) SPECIAL SUMMER ROUTE — all downhill! We take the local village bus from Anguk Station up to the top of Bukchon, then stroll gently downhill through the old alleys. No sweaty climbs — just the views, the stories, and the breeze. (Bus fare's on me — included!) Beat the heat & the crowds. I grew up in Bukchon, long before it became one of Seoul's most visited neighborhoods. Since February 2025, guests from around the world have made this storytelling tour deeply rewarding. Bukchon sat at the heart of Korean politics, economy, and culture from 1392 into the 1980s. Guided by a storyteller born and raised here — a filmmaker and screenwriting professor — you'll wander its alleys and the stories within them. Please note before booking: • Recommended for ages 13+ (storytelling-focused). • Wear comfy sneakers and bring water. • Restrooms available at the 30-, 60- and 90-min points.

When the king dies without a crown prince, an 11-year-old royal boy born and raised here becomes the 26th king of Joseon. For the next 10 years, the boy's father would rule the country from here. Learn about the fascinating history of Unhyeonggung Palace and marvel at the outstanding architecture of the time.
Admire historic architecture from 600, 100, and 50 years ago and learn the stories behind them.
Learn about and appreciate the hanoks of the Yangban, the ruling class, who usually lived in Seoul.
I'll tell you stories about the wells you heard as a child and what history has revealed about them.
The high school is known for filming countless dramas and music videos, but it's actually a historic space that helped shape Korea into the country it is today. Here's the story behind its secret history.
We trace the dramatic rise and fall of powerful politicians and business tycoons who once held land in Bukchon — a district chosen as the capital under the principles of feng shui. Revered as an auspicious site, this coveted land became both the foundation of their wealth and influence, and the backdrop to their eventual downfall.

Mr Dong Kim is the best guide we’ve ever had in Seoul. As he was raised in this magnificent neighborhood, walking the streets and alleys with Mr Kim felt like reliving Korean history from the Joseon dynasty to modern Korea. This tour should always be a part of your visit to Bukchon Hanok Village!
Hi Susan, thank you so much for leaving a review, especially when you’re so busy. I really appreciate it! Like I mentioned, I’m preparing my Gyeongbokgung storytelling tour now, and if everything goes well, I’m planning to launch it around fall. So when you come to Seoul, I’ll be able to show you the hidden secrets of Gyeongbokgung that most people never knew about through my tour :) Looking forward to seeing you again!
