Total tourist trap. Guide had no idea what he was doing. Description doesn’t match trip at all. He lied about many things. All he wanted was to drop us off at high end Cambodian souvenir shop. I told him I didn’t want to go in but he pressured us. It was so uncomfortable. This is a scam. Trying to get money back. 😞😞😞😞
My experience was wonderful! Chantha was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of both Siem Reap and Cambodia at large and spoke great English. He explained each step of the blessing process and its significance and then took me to the floating villages and a local street market, where he explained the importance of different foods and practices of Cambodian people. It was an overall great experience and would recommend it to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the Cambodian culture with a true local.
Nobody came to pick us up at the hotel so we called the tour provider who was unaware of our tour. Driver came one hour late and took us to the monastery where they were clearly not expecting us; no temple tour, no explanation on Buddhism - blessing ceremony was done in 10 mins. Then he drove us to the lotus cafe that was closing so we couldn’t go in or try the desserts announced in tour description. He then drove us through a road and told us to look at the rice fields and then he would show us a lake; at this point we requested to go to our hotel. Good driver, very cordial, but clearly not a tour guide for this activity.
Very pleasant afternoon discovery the monk monastery and water blessing. The best part was tasting typical Cambodian desert and driving a long the Lotus Farm. Very friendly guide who spoke very well English and showed us the very local authentique places.
Thanks you so much for your review and this will help us alot.
