Itinerary
The Vigadó is one of Budapest’s most elegant historic buildings, located along the Danube on the Pest side. Originally built in the 19th century and later restored after wartime damage, it has long served as a cultural hub for concerts, exhibitions, and grand events. Its Romantic-style architecture, richly decorated interiors, and riverside setting make it a favorite stop for visitors looking to experience both the artistic and historical atmosphere of the city.
Vörösmarty Square is one of the liveliest and most popular gathering spots in central Budapest, located at the end of the famous shopping street, Váci utca. Surrounded by elegant 19th-century buildings, cafés, and shops, the square is a hub for cultural events and seasonal markets, especially the well-known Christmas fair. At its center stands the statue of Hungarian poet Mihály Vörösmarty, adding a touch of national heritage. Visitors can also enjoy dining and entertainment nearby, including the iconic Hard Rock Cafe Budapest, making the square a vibrant place to relax and soak in the city’s atmosphere.
József Nádor Square is a small but elegant square in the heart of Budapest, known for its calm atmosphere and refined surroundings. Named after Archduke Joseph, a key historical figure in Hungary, the square features a statue in his honor and is lined with classic buildings, offices, and cafés. Its quieter character makes it a pleasant spot to take a break while exploring the busy city center nearby.
Szent István Square is a spacious and lively square in central Budapest, best known for being home to the magnificent St. Stephen’s Basilica. Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and terraces, it’s a popular place to relax while enjoying views of the grand neoclassical church, one of the city’s most important landmarks. The square often hosts events and seasonal markets, making it a vibrant stop for visitors exploring the area.
The Hungarian State Opera House, located on Andrássy Avenue, is one of the city’s most impressive architectural landmarks. Built in the late 19th century in a richly decorated Neo-Renaissance style, it is renowned for its stunning interior, excellent acoustics, and world-class performances. Even for those not attending a show, the building itself is a highlight of Budapest, reflecting the city’s deep cultural and artistic heritage.
Liberty Square (Szabadság tér) is a large and elegant square in Budapest’s financial district, surrounded by impressive historic buildings and green park areas. It is known for its mix of monuments reflecting different periods of Hungary’s history, as well as its relaxed atmosphere with fountains and seating areas. Popular with both locals and visitors, it offers a peaceful break while still being close to many of the city’s main attractions.
The Hungarian Parliament Building, located on Kossuth Lajos Square, is one of Budapest’s most iconic sights. This grand Neo-Gothic building, set along the Danube, is the seat of Hungary’s government and one of the largest parliament buildings in the world. Its striking façade, intricate details, and impressive dome make it a must-see for visitors exploring the city.

Great way to get around the city, I have learnt a lot about the Café culture in Budapest like Gerbaude, Hard Rock, Astoria or the famous New York café. The guide was very knowledgeable and well prepared, and very friendly. He kindly answered all of my questions. I recommend everyone to do it on your day one. I have visited a lot of tours but by far this was the best. 10/10
