You will get an introduction into Bucharest history and beginnings by seeing the oldest buildings in Bucharest.
Bucharest roots lies in a trading background, two centuries ago, one in four buildings in the old city center was a caravan-serai, today only three of them remain and this is one of them.
A century ago this was the financial district of Bucharest, you will be surrounded by the National Bank, the former Stock Exchange, The Palace of Trading and Commerce along with many other state and private banks.
90% of the Romanian people are Christian Orthodox and still we are quite a religious country, this monastery is and iconic monument which represents very well the features of the Orthodox heritage and architecture.
You will be standing in front of what is considered to be, probably the best old architecture in Bucharest, let's find out why the oldest buildings in Bucharest are quite new and how the city was remodeled and shaped during it's 600 years of existence.
Still in the financial district, where there is a lot of money there has to be spending opportunities, Macca Villacrosse galleries were the golden standard in this sense.
From monarchy to communism to democracy, all the marks from the recent Romanian history are tied to this place!
From an architectural perspective you will be in full Stalin era.

This was a fantastic and informative tour. Ed was very enthusiastic about sharing Bucharest’s incredible history and he totally brought it to life. He was particularly good at pointing out the changes in architecture across the city and we loved the post WWII history of communism and the collapse of the Ceaucescu regime. Highly recommend!!

We had our visit with Daniel. He was a fantastic guide with a huge love for his country and sharing his huge knowledge of it's history to other people, and with a great sense of humour. We would definitely repeat a tour with him if we came back, he even sends you more bits of history and tips for your stay in Bucarest. 10/10
