Shameful scam

It's a scam. After clicking on the link that provided me with the Viator chat, it turns out that I paid 193€ for something that, if I did it on my own, cost less than half as much. I hired the boat ride along the Iguazu River to approach the falls, and when I got there the local operator tells me that this item was not included in what I had paid. That is, €193 plus the park tickets that I had to manage because they were not included, and I could not access the boats, which was the only reason I did the tour. Viator had given me the link to buy the tour that INCLUDED the boats, and there were other suppliers had chosen them because of the supposed good reputation they had. They're a scam, and I demand my money back. The local operators, EcoIguazú Tours, wonderful people who did their best to find a solution to the issue and have given me support during the 5 hours of the visit.

This boat ride you have to do. It is a hell of a ride!

The boat tour includes a truck ride through the "jungle" but quite honestly, it is a non-event and you are unlikely to see anything other than trees! That said, it's a pleasant ride and a nice way to get to the boats. At the end you are going to have to walk quite a way downhill to the river, the end of which could prove difficult for some, so I must warn the walking impaired. The return climb will be taxing! It may exist but I saw no disabled provision. Once there the boat ride is an absolute thrill and you will go right up the river to, and in, the falls. You are going to get very, very wet. I am fairly old but you could not wipe the smile off my face and as we entered the full thrust of the deluge I was laughing my head off with joy. I would not have missed this trip for the world.

Hi, TJA950! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! We strive to provide excellent service and most memorable experience to our passengers and it's incredibly rewarding to know that you enjoyed the tour. We hope to see you again! Amazing place, easy to do without the tour,

The guide for the trip was very helpful and knowledgable so I do not want to take anything away from her at all. That said, the trip is overpriced for what it includes and we very quickly realised on arriving in Argentina (let alone Iguasu) that you can achieve everything this tour includes on your own for a fraction of the price. We paid circa $98 per person for the trip which does not include the local park tickets. A taxi from our hotel (in Argentina) to the park would be $30-50 total depending on the exchange rate. While it may seem helpful to have guidance for the border it isn’t difficult so isn’t necessary. Tripadvisor contacted us prior to the day to recommend we purchase the park tickets in advance. I strongly recommend purchasing in advance as it saves time on arrival at the falls entrance. This reinforced my thinking that this trip is unnecessary to purchase as the only thing you need to visit the falls is not included in the prices. The optional add on to the tour was the boat ride. Tripadvisor wanted $215 per person for the boat ride. We declined and purchased it directly on arrival at the park for circa £55 per person. Far cheaper. It would have been even cheaper if we had local cash available. Once at the falls they are spectacular and 100% worth visiting. I strongly recommend the boat tour, be sure to book park entrance in advance. With the guide you will find you cover the area quickly but still have time for all the key spots. On your own you would probably find you can take a more meandering pace allowing more time to take things in and if you like maybe even hang around in areas for slightly quieter moments.

Operator response

Hello Oliver... Thank you so much for sharing your opinion about your experience. We are really happy to read you found the falls as wonderful as we do and that you had a great time there. Regarding your comments about the prices, it is difficult to compare buying all services separately and on the spot with no guarantee of availability to booking all services included in a package and arranged in advance. This is something really subjective and personal and depends on the kind of tourism each one chooses. Even though, we really appreciate your opinion as it helps us improve our services. We hope to see you soon! Kind regards Ayelen

Exclusive Guided Tour to Falls (Brazilian Side)

I got the tour to do it in the afternoon. Time was enough. It was a private excursion for my mom and I. Diego was our guide and Lorena moved us. They were very punctual. Diego was telling us curiosities of the walk and showing the typical things of the place in addition to taking care of us during the journey. The falls on the Brazilian side offer another experience and vision of the landscape. It was an excellent excursion in every way. Super recommended!

Great visit

I knew that timelines would be tight as I was arriving late - so booked this tour for the Brazil side of Igauzu Falls, and very glad I did. The tour bus arrived on time for pick-up; most of all, however, was the efficiency of Matteo, the tour leader, in managing everything - from helping ease the hassles of border crossing (the queues were huge, but Matteo was able to facilitate a speedy crossing - especially for the return portion back to Argentina) to taking us for a highlights tour of the falls. Matteo told me that he has done the same tour countless times (sometimes working 7-9 days straight during peak season), but he was fresh as if he was doing it for the first time. Very nice touch, very professional, and excellent tour leader.

Thanks for the detailed review psintrepid! I'm glad to hear that you really took advantage of your time in Iguazu, and that you experienced one of our favorite tours; the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls!! And this tour is perfect if you don't have enought time, as it is a half day tour. Our tour leaders, as you say, are local experts, who not only provide you with all the information you need, but are also personable people who are genuinely fun and they know how to handle situations such as border crossing. Also, they make the difference because they are really proffesional ! Safe travels on your next adventure! Luna from SayHueque
