“The greatest gift that a Colombian has given to his country.” These were the words of a local newspaper when Botero donated a magnificent art collection to the Banco de la República. The collection is composed of Botero’s artwork and other renowned artists. Fernando Botero is a Colombian artist that has enchanted the world with his famous proportionally exaggerated characters that suggest an element of political criticism and a refined sense of humor. Botero is a figurative artist and sculptor from Medellín, Colombia. He is known for his unique style, also called by some as ‘Boterismo.’ He’s considered as one of the most recognized living artists in Latin America, being the most acclaimed Colombian artist. He exhibited his pieces in 1948 for the first time and became a national eminence in 1958 when he won an award at the Salón de Artistas Colombianos (Hall Colombian Artists). From 1966 to 1975, he divided his time among Europe, New York, and Colombia.

On this tour, you will be picked up at your hotel at 10:00 am, and you’ll be taken to the museum where you’ll have a privately guided visit to the Museum. Here you will see one of the most wonderful gifts the country has been given. Enjoy the artwork of not only the most prestigious and famous Colombian artist but also the artwork of some of the most influential and significant artists in art history. After the tour is over, you will have some time to go to the souvenir shop, where you can find some gifts for your beloved ones back home.

I am a big fan of Botero so I was pleased to be able to admire so many paintings and sculptures in one place and few visitors as bonuses in a beautiful old house in Spanish style.A visit not to be missed.I will soon go to Medellín and will be able to admire other sculptures on display in a beautiful park there.Like the other hand.

Free entry museum. It is the house of one of the most beautiful paintings collection. We have visited with our kid who was amused by the forms and shapes. From the Botero museum you can go to the next museums(free) just walking in.

Located in a monastery like setting is a museum purchased by BOTERO and donated to the city of Bogota and filled with the artist’s personal art collection and his monumental works! I think it is free ! The art includes Picasso and impressionists plus Boteros paintings and monumental sculptures! A MUST VISIT IN BOGOTA
Clean spaces, all very organized, keep the value of the paintings! I learned a lot here, I love paintings and their meanings!!!
This museum is free. Besides the artist’s own works (of which I’m not a fan), there’s part of his personal collection and that’s great. For once, no crowds in front of the Mona Lisa... but it's Botero's...
An extraordinary library! Of course there are all aspects of Botero's talent, although there are few monumental sculptures. But there are also major works by Picasso, Dali, Moore, Giacometti, Caillebotte, Delvaux and many others. The lighting is perfect, the presentation very successful. A great moment!

To be honest, Botero's work wasn't one of my favorites. I arrived at the Museum almost by chance and I must say that I found it a truly fascinating experience, not only for the quality of the exhibition but for the level of the works and the collection. It really is an unmissable of the vast cultural offer that Colombia has to surprise! During the week the Expo has a minimum admission fee, however on Sunday admission is free.
