Bordeaux bike tour "The Best of Bordeaux"
Description
Accompanied by a real local guide, you will discover the most beautiful neighborhoods and monuments of the city, along a magnificent route of approximately 13km, perfectly secure and suitable for bicycles. The bikes provided are beautiful Beach Cruisers that are super comfortable and perfect for the city. Our groups are limited to 10 people to ensure maximum comfort and safety. We provide you with stainless steel water bottles with insulated bags to keep them cool (summer is particularly hot in Bordeaux). We offer you a local specialty to taste during a break in the public garden. Ponchos are also provided in case of risk of showers. Our reception point has a toilet.

Itinerary
You will be welcomed by a real local guide. After 10 minutes devoted to safety instructions, we will set off to discover Bordeaux, along a magnificent course of approximately 13km, perfectly secure and suitable for bicycles. We will discover the unmissable places of the city, Saint Michel and its incredible bell tower, we will cross the Garonne via the magnificent stone bridge to go and admire the facade of the quays from the walk in the park of the angels. We will see the “Darwin” eco-district before taking the impressive “Jacques Chaban-Delmas” opening bridge. We continue the walk through the Chartrons district famous for its Bordeaux wine trade, then towards the public garden before going through the historic center of the city with its cobbled streets and pretty little squares filled with terraces. Finally we will pass in front of the essential water mirror and the pretty Cailhau gate before returning to the starting point.
Stop in front of the big bell, the oldest city gate dating from the 13th century.
Discovery of the popular district of the city with the Saint-Michel basilica and the spire which culminates at 114 meters high.
Passage on the magnificent stone bridge, the oldest bridge in the city to admire the view from the right bank
Pause for a panoramic view of the magnificent 18th century facade of the city. The history of Bordeaux will be told to you before setting off again along the Garonne in the direction of Darwin.
Discovery of Darwin, the eco-district, a surprising and unique alternative place in Bordeaux.
Crossing the Garonne by the majestic Jacques Chaban-Delmas bridge, a real technological feat that allows boats to enter the port of Bordeaux.
Passage through the heart of the Chartrons, a former famous Bordeaux wine trading district. Discovery of the old cellars then passage in the pretty rue Notre Dame with its pretty antique shops.
Tasting break of a local specialty in the magnificent Public Garden of Bordeaux
Discovery of the monument to the Girondins and its beautiful fountains on the Esplanade des Quinconces
Passage in front of the Theatre, crossing the Golden Triangle and the Place des Grands Hommes.
View of the Saint-André cathedral, the town hall and the Pey-Berlan tower dating from the 15th century.
Crossing the historic center of the city with its small squares, terraces and cobbled streets. the pretty Place Camille Julian and its old church which has become a cinema, the charming little Square Vinet and its green wall, Place Saint Pierre then the magnificent Place du Parlement.
Passage to the water mirror opposite the Place de la Bourse..
Discovery of the magnificent Cailhau gate dating from the 15th century.

Probably one of my most memorable experiences in Bordeaux, thanks to our lovely and friendly guides, Jean-Christophe and Noah. I was surprised by how well-organized and informative the tour was. The way they talked about the history of the city and all the hidden gems we got to experience by bike was absolutely incredible. I actually got to know the good local spots, not just tourist places. There were several amazing spots that we could have stopped at and not nearly enough time to take photos without feeling rushed. However, seeing Bordeaux by bike was a true experience especially if you attend the early morning tour.

I am truly sorry, however, that you felt a bit rushed and couldn't take all the photos you wanted. To give you a bit of context, our tour includes about ten scheduled stops to admire and enjoy the city's main highlights, which are also as many opportunities for everyone to take photos. That being said, Bordeaux has the second highest number of historical monuments in France after Paris, so it is sadly impossible to stop at every single beautiful spot along the way! For future reference, please know that whenever our guests ask me to stop to capture a specific view, it is always a pleasure to pull over for a quick photo break! It’s really hard to imagine a better bike tour experience. JC was a local guide with great enthusiasm for Bordeaux history and is an unofficial ambassador for his beloved city. His passion on our very first day set the tone for our 6 day visit to the Bordeaux region which we loved! Sunday was the perfect day to cycle through the streets and bike trails effortlessly. We enjoyed just the right amount of history and anecdotes along with illustrations. This is exactly what I hope for when booking a bike tour!

An excellent experience from start to finish! We took a bike ride among colleagues and everything was perfectly organized. Jean-Christophe displayed great professionalism: knowledgeable, passionate, smiling, and very attentive, he made this outing as enjoyable as it was enriching.
