Description

Blue Cave Departures run daily from Dubrovnik Old Town, Cavtat, Mlini, and Srebreno. The tour starts with panoramic views of the Dubrovnik city walls before heading to Koločep Island to visit the Blue Cave, accessible only by swimming. Snorkeling gear is included to explore its turquoise waters, with optional cliff jumping nearby. Next are the Three Green Caves, where two allow easy snorkeling and one is a tunnel that leads through the island. The final stop is Šunj Beach on Lopud, a one-kilometer sandy beach with shallow waters. The speedboat drives to the closest point possible for guest drop-off, then anchors away from shore in line with beach regulations. Guests can enjoy free time, and those ordering a drink at the bar with blue umbrellas receive a complimentary sunbed and umbrella. (From November to April, Šunj beach is closed so our stop will be adjusted to either Lopud village or Koločep village.) The tour ends with return to the departure point.

Itinerary

Pass by

Enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the old town city walls while your skipper will tell you a few of the city legends and interesting facts. As well, you will sell beneath Lovrijenac fortress, built on a 37m high steep cliff rising above the Adriatic Sea.

40 min

Blue Cave, famous for its glowing blue water caused by natural light reflection. Snorkeling equipment (snorkeling masks and breathing tube) is provided for an immersive experience. Floaters like "noodles" are available on boat if needed. The boat will anchor some 20m from the Blue Cave which is accessible only by swimming as entrance is too small for boat to enter.

30 min

Two Green Caves, where sunlight creates a unique emerald glow. Canyon Cave, a hidden natural passage carved into the cliffs. Optional swimming and snorkeling

60 min

Šunj is our last stop, a sandy beach on the south side of Lopud Island. Enjoy free time sunbathing and swimming in its crystal-clear waters. One of Šunj’s unique features is its shallow seabed, extending 100 meters from the shore, making it ideal for children and less confident swimmers. (From November to April, Šunj beach is closed so our stop will be adjusted to either Lopud village or Koločep village.)

Great trip - recommended. Thanks Marco!

This is the truth about this trip. We booked at a kiosk the day before and were told to arrive 20 mins early at 9:30 the next morning, which we did. The boat arrived but we couldn’t board initially because people booking via the internet had priority. Another boat turned up, and all the people who had kiosk tickets boarded that. 8 out of 12 possible spaces. As it turned out it was a better option as there was plenty of space on board. Both boats zoomed along to the blue cave. There were about a dozen other tourist boats already there. It was busy, but the cave was pretty cool, and blue. You didn’t have to dive underwater to get in, you could just swim in, albeit through a low entrance. From there to the green caves. The most interesting being the one on the left. It gets very narrow, but quite manageable and you can stand up. Off the narrow corridor there’s a small cave half way along that you can swim into, if you’re happy to swim about 1m underwater. It was similar to the rest of the cave and unremarkable in that way. However, my brother and I went into it and shortly after swam out into the middle of a couple of girls happily navigating the narrow corridor giving them a fright. Not intentionally. They found it v funny after getting over the shock. To exit the cave you do have to swim under a short 1m section. Again, no one struggled with doing this. Then you exit and swim back round to the boat, about 100m Last stop is the beach where you’re guided to a sun lounger providing you buy a drink. It’s a nice place to hang out for an hour and half and v shallow water. There was time to chat to some of the other people on board and meet another Robin which was nice. Finally you zoom back to Dubrovnik. The boat is fast so none of the legas take v long. It’s a bit of production line but I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Drinks on the boat are included. The guide, Marco, was v friendly.

The stops were good, but experience not as described

The stops themselves were good, but no alcoholic drinks were included, just coke, peach juice and water, nothing else. The stop in Lopud beach, we were told to pay for overpriced food and drinks to get a free beach recliner and umbrella. This was definitely what was described in the experience when buying.

Wonderful half-day Elaphiti island tour

We had a beautiful half-day on the crystal-clear water, snorkeling and exploring the island caves. Our last stop was Lopud, where we enjoyed an hour on loungers on the sandy beach, where we ordered drinks and calamari from the friendly beach staff. The skipper and first mate did a great job and ensured that we all had a wonderful experience. One note: the booking indicated that we would be on a “speedboat”, but we were in fact on what was more of a fishing trawler-type vessel. This meant that entry and exit were on a ladder off the side of the boat, rather than a swim platform as found on boats designed for swimming, water skiing, etc. It was fine for us, but perhaps less so for some. Overall a great half-day tour, though!
