Itinerary
Visit Alsace by bike, during a ride with a private guide. From Sélestat to Bergheim, ride in peace on cycle track 5, the longest cycle track in Europe. Discover the vineyards of Alsace and its picturesque villages. Located in the plain of Alsace, at the foot of the Vosges, the town is crossed by the Ill and its territory is largely covered by the wetlands of Grand Ried. Sélestat is mentioned for the first time in the 8th century. Free city of the Holy Empire, member of the Decapolis, Sélestat experienced very rapid development at the end of the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance. It also becomes a focus of humanism. It was then the third city in Alsace, with a port on the Ill and a belt of ramparts. It nevertheless suffered from the troubles linked to the Reformation, the Peasants' War and then the Thirty Years' War, following which it became French.
Dambach-la-ville is located in the canton of Barr, in the hilly fringe of the plain of Alsace, between Selestat and Obernai, some two kilometres from the Vosges mountains, which notoriously began abruptly on their eastern slope.
Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle, sometimes also Haut-Koenigsbourg, is a medieval castle located in the commune of Orschwiller in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace, France.

Cédric was AMAZING - this bike tour was a highlight of our trip. We had a group of 6 friends, and he guided us through the best tour of the region's quaintest, most charming villages. He was personable, funny, and very knowledgeable about the area. We visited an amazing family winery and also stopped into a local bakery. This was something we stumbled upon during the last leg of our trip, and I'm so glad we did - we recommend him to anyone looking for an active, amazing way to explore the area.

Detour Alsace is an outstanding bike tour company. Our tour was well planned, the equipment was excellent, and most importantly Cedric, our guide, had great knowledge and insight into the history and wines of the region. Highly recommended!

Cédric was a very kind engaging tour guide. It was my first time using an e-bike and I hadn’t rode a bike in a long time but he was super helpful and patient. We saw some beautiful scenery and tasted some wonderful wine. It was a really fun experience!
Thank you very much, Ann Marie! It is a pleasure if you are biking again. You did very well, don’t worry! Have fun in Europe! Take care Cédric from Détour Alsace
Cedric was an excellent guide taking us on a wonderful tour of the Alsace vineyards. Visiting Bergheim and the wine tasting was very good. Highly recommended.
Hi Peter, we had fun and we am glad you enjoyed the ebike tour. Cédric from Détour Alsace
Fantastic day! Our guide Cedric met us at the train station (we came from Strasbourg-super easy) with e-bikes. We cycled through the vineyards and small villages. I had never used an e-bike, so wasn’t sure what to expect, but it’s easy and intuitive. Stopped for a bite of cheese, and sweets and tasted some wine. HIGHLY recommend this tour. (Cedric is fluent in English as well as French and German).
Thank you so much Greg & Virginia. Cédric
I had a wonderful experience with Detour Alsace! From beginning to end, everything was thoughtfully planned and ran smoothly. Sophie was a fantastic guide: knowledgeable, engaging, and full of fascinating stories about Alsace’s history, culture, and hidden treasures. The itinerary struck a great balance between exploring charming villages and enjoying the region’s stunning vineyards. After the biking, Cédric led a memorable wine tasting, offering great insights into local varietals and making the whole experience both informative and relaxed. His warmth and enthusiasm made it feel like sharing a drink with a local friend. If you’re looking to explore the true heart of Alsace in a meaningful, stress-free way, I can’t recommend this tour enough!
Thank you so much, Cassidy!
