Be early as bus get really packed. Some stops people couldn't get on. Great way of seeing Budapest. I used bus two days in a row.
Don't bother using this service, spend a little extra and go for one of the private tours which are better value for money, especially if you are a family or a group travelling together. I experienced rude ticket sellers Over crowded buses Plastic hard seats that fit no one The top floor had a plastic awning in case of rain if you were unfortunate to sit under it, the awning skimmed the top of your head and slammed back and forth every time the bus breaked or took off. Many disappointed customers at each stop as the buses were overcrowded and few and far between
We did not know that Big Bus and City Sightseeing were the same company, so we let a couple buses go by before boarding the Big Bus. Seats on Big bus are so close together and made it difficult for a bigger person to get in and out, as well, the roof was on and you had to hunch over to get to your seat (there was no rain,) The City Sightseeing buses were more comfortable. The bus stopped at all tourist locations making it easy to see the city and the highlights you want to see. The walking tour (Pest side) was extremely informative and I would recommend it highly. Overall, it was a good way to see the city.
Hi Remi_S. Thank you for your valuable feedback! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our bus tour, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you back on board in the future. Best regards, Razvan @BigBusTours
Buses ran late and were too few to accommodate the crowd of passengers. Stops were not announced and narration ineptly behind the traveling bus. Lack of communication by driver and agents upon entering system was a detriment to the success of the excursion. It was so bad that despite purchasing a two day ticket it will go unused for lack of desire to experience the discomfort of another day . In addition, the trip advisor experience was unhelpful in explaining procedures to access tickets and providing necessary logistical information. No problem taking our money however. Never again.
Big Bus tours are great. You can listen to the narrated tour and decide what you want to explore in more detail. You have all day to visit the various stops/landmarks. It is a good way to get an overview of the city.
Beautiful discovery of Budapest
Great and informative way to see Budapest. We go on a Hop on Hop off tour in every big city we visit. Unfortunately, a bus broke down somewhere in the city. We waited in the afternoon sun for 50 minutes for a bus to arrive at Citadel stop only to be told it is full and for us to wait another 10 minutes. There would’ve been around 50-60 of us.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you found the tour to be a great and informative way to see Budapest. It's wonderful to know that you enjoy hop on hop off tours when visiting major cities and that our tour helped you explore the city. At the same time, we're very sorry to hear about the disruption caused by the bus breakdown and the long wait you experienced at the Citadel stop. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to wait 50 minutes in the afternoon heat, only to find that the arriving bus was already at capacity and unable to accommodate everyone waiting. While unexpected operational issues can occasionally occur, we recognize that the combination of the delay and limited space on the bus significantly impacted your experience. Your feedback will be shared with our operations team so we can review how we manage service disruptions and capacity during busy periods. Thank you again for your balanced and honest feedback. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope to welcome you on board again in the future. Flavius@BigBusTours
Note that the brown Big Bus and the Red Bus are owned by the same company and you can get on either. The tour was good and audio excellent, much better than other tours I have been on. It covered a lot of the city and was happy we took it. We also took advantage of the 2 day price as it wasn’t a lot more and well worth it.
We chose Big Bus Tours based on the excellent reputation, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We waited 35 minutes for the bus, despite the advertised frequency, and when it finally arrived, it was so overcrowded that we couldn’t even get seats. For a sightseeing tour, where the whole point is to enjoy the views comfortably, this is simply unacceptable. We paid for a premium sightseeing experience, not to stand in a packed bus after a long wait. Better capacity management and more frequent buses are clearly needed, especially during the tourist season. Very disappointing experience. I would not choose this company again.
We were a very disappointed with our hop on/off experience in Budapest. 50% of the time the commentary did not work and therefore we did not receive any cultural information about the highlighted spots along the route. In addition, it made it very difficult to know where to get off. It would help if at least there was some indication on the bus, other than the commentary, which of the numbered stops you were approaching.
