Vung Tau has four known beaches—Front Beach, Back Beach, Pineapple Beach, and Paradise Beach. Front Beach (Bãi Trước) is the most popular, which for many others is enough reason to stay away. In addition to the crowds, the water is rather polluted and doesn’t offer the best beach setup. However, you can still enjoy some fresh seafood at the many stalls and restaurants that have set up shop—they serve some of the most delicious seafood in the south of Vietnam. For a better beach experience, head to any of the other three. Back Beach (Bãi Sau) is much less dirty, and perfect for surfing. As the beach gets some wonderful wind swells, kitesurfing shops have appeared over the years, offering rentals and classes for all levels.

Statue of Christ the King is an unforgettable Vung Tau day tours. You can see the statue of Christ the King, one of the important symbols of Vung Tau, from all directions in the city. But the best is still climbing to the top of Little Mountain and admire the statue. Then, climb the observatory in the statue and watch the panorama of the city and the surrounding sea The statue of Christ the King was built in the early 1970 s but not until more than 20 years after its completion. The arms are 18 m wide, 32 m high, two meters higher than the Redemptories statue in Rio de Janeiro.

Bach Dinh, or the White Palace of Vung Tau City is located at 4 Tran Phu Street, on the slop of Big Mountain. Standing 50 meter above the sea level, White Palace has its French name which is La Villa Blanche. Tracing back to the year of 1898, it was considered as a summer holiday villa of French Governor General Paul Doumer. This palace was named after his lovely daughter. Unfortunately, while the structure was being built, Doumer had to come back to France and became the President of France later. It was not until 1916 that it was officially used for holiday resting of some Indochina-French Governors. Once visiting the White Palace, you will be attracted by its all white appearance, which is the reason why people here call it “Bach Dinh” (“Bach” means white color in Vietnamese).

Thich Ca Phat Dai (Platform of Shakyamuni Buddha) is a notable Theravada Buddhist temple in the coastal city of Vung Tau in southern Vietnam. It lies to the northwest of the Lớn mountain and was built between 1961 and 1963 when it was opened. It is set on a plot of around five hectares, with a Zen Buddhist monastery at the foot of the plot and the Thích Ca Phật Đài at the top. The Zen monastery is a small brick temple built by a government official from Vung Tau in 1957. In 1961, the Buddhist association organised for a renovation of the monastery and decided to build the Thich Ca Phat Dai further up the mountain. Additional lodgings were built to cater to Buddhist pilgrims who come and visit the site.

Lying on the right of the Thang Tam’s Holy Temple, the Whale Tomb was built at the same time as the Temple of the Five Eliments at the end of the 19th century. The Tomb presently displays a huge skeleton of a whale collected by the local fishermen over a hundred years ago . In the story about the whale, it was rumoured that in the mid 19th century, there was a very big head of a whale drifting onto the Tam Duong Beach. The whale head was so big that local villagers had to fence it with bamboo sticks and waited several days for the whale flesh to become rotten enough to leave the bones. Then they carried the bones to the temple and people have worshipped until today. Over recent years, more whale bones have been collected and preserved at the temple.

One of the most beautiful monastery in Vung Tau with the biggest golden Buddha. Chon Khong Monastery had been expanded/built more facilities and decorative in early 2022. Nice view of the city from the hill.

Great tour with Jason in Vung Tau

Excellent experience. Jason (guide) spoke great English. Allowed us to modify our itinerary as we desired. Walked up all 811 steps to the Christ the King statue in Vung Tau with me. It was a very pleasurable day while touring with Jason - would love to have the opportunity to do so again.

A day trip to Vung Tua

Evelyn personalised the tour to what and where we wanted to go. She was an excellent guide with a good knowledge of the local area and was happy to share the local culture. She even helped us find some street dogs to feed. Our driver was also excellent, navigating the local traffic chaos like a professional. Thank-you for an excellent day in Vietnam.

Great day out!

Excellent tour. Our tour guide Harry (Hung) was excellent and was very patience and helpful with us (an elderly couple). He took us to a local coffee shop and restaurant during the tour and these stops were great. We spent quite some time at the Big House where food is prepared and served to local people for no cost and we met and chatted to the owner Kim which was wonderful. A great day out.

Fantastic “Best of Vau Tang” Tour from Phu My Port

We did the Best of Vung Tau City Shore Excursion from Phu My Port and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Pickup at the cruise port was smooth and everything was very well organized. Our guide, Castle, was fantastic. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and shared detailed history and explanations at each of the sites we visited, which made the tour especially interesting. We visited several great locations and enjoyed a delicious authentic Vietnamese lunch. Castle also went out of his way to accommodate a food allergy in our group and made sure a member of our group with mobility issues was comfortable throughout the day. The driver was excellent and the van was clean, cool, and very comfortable, which made the travel between stops relaxing. Highly recommend this tour if you are visiting from Phu My Port. It was a wonderful way to experience Vietnam.

Good customer service

We were on the Norwegian Sun and unfortunately they cancelled this port within the 24 hour period so we were very grateful that the tour operator still refunded our money in full.
