Itinerary
Enjoy a relaxing cruise on West Lake, the most iconic symbol of Hangzhou and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you glide across the calm waters, surrounded by willow-lined shores, historic pagodas, and misty hills, your guide will share the stories, legends, and cultural significance behind each scenic spot. From the famous Three Pools Mirroring the Moon to the poetic inspirations of ancient scholars, every view comes alive through your guide’s engaging narration—turning a peaceful boat ride into a truly immersive cultural experience.
Stroll through the picturesque gardens of Huagang Guanyu, one of the most beloved scenic spots around West Lake. Known for its elegant landscaping, blooming flowers, and vibrant koi-filled ponds, this peaceful area perfectly captures the charm of classical Chinese garden design. As you walk along shaded paths and stone bridges, your guide will share the history behind the site, the symbolism of koi fish in Chinese culture, and the best viewpoints for photos. With insightful storytelling and a relaxed pace, this visit offers a tranquil and culturally rich moment in your Hangzhou journey.
Discover the timeless serenity of Lingyin Temple, one of the most important and historic Buddhist temples in China. Surrounded by lush forested hills, the temple offers a peaceful escape from the city. As you explore its grand halls and sacred statues, your expert guide will provide in-depth explanations of Buddhist beliefs, temple rituals, and the stories behind each architectural detail. If time and conditions allow, you may also have the opportunity to interact with monks and gain a more personal insight into their daily practices and spiritual life, making the experience even more meaningful and unique.
From the Lingyin Temple, walk along a cobblestone pathway leading to Amanfayun Village, a restored Chinese village dating back hundreds of years and situated in a remote forest of camphor and bamboo. Immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the hamlet dotted with traditional dwellings and surrounded by tea fields.
For lunch you have two options: purchase your meal at a local restaurant recommended by your guide, or head to a local tea farmer's home to prepare a meal of local delicacies such as chicken, West Lake carp, lotus root, bamboo shoots and other tasty vegetables (own expense). After lunch, Escape to the Meijiawu Tea Village, nestled among rolling green hills and lush tea plantations. Known as one of the best places to experience authentic Longjing (Dragon Well) tea culture, the village offers a glimpse into local life and traditions. As you stroll through the tea fields and quiet lanes, your guide will introduce the history of tea cultivation, explain the tea-making process, and share insights into the cultural importance of tea in China. You’ll also have the chance to relax and enjoy a fresh cup of locally grown tea. If time permits, you may even have the opportunity to interact with local tea farmers or visit their homes, adding a more personal and authentic touch to your experience.
Your final stop is Song Dynasty Imperial Street, renamed Zhongshanlu Beiduan. Walk with your guide along this road that stretches 1,310 feet (400 meters) and leads to the imperial palace of the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960–1127). If you wish, stop at any of the snack bars that offer local delicacies and shops that sell antiques, embroidered items and silk. End your private tour with a drive back to your Hangzhou downtown hotel or the Hangzhou Train station.

Luna is an amazing guide. Very informative and patient. We had a wonderful time on our tour of Hangzhou
Luna was an extremely thoughtful and attentive tour guide, anticipating all our needs every day and accommodating every request with a smile for all three days of our private tour. She thought of everything, including local places to eat, where the cleanest bathrooms were, taking photos for us. She was quite knowledgeable on the history and all aspects of Hangzhou life. She even stayed out late with me to accommodate a last day request that wasn’t in the original tour plan. Just a sweet, wonderful person who worked really hard to make our trip better.
This was a truly unforgettable day and a highlight of our vacation! Chloe was such a wonderful guide who knew so much about everything we saw and was incredibly kind. Chloe made this so much more than just a way to see the sights - it feels like we truly got a peek at what life is like for a Hangzhou local. Thanks to our driver, Mr. Xie, we were able to get around quickly to all of the different places and see almost everything in just one day. Everything was so beautiful and took our breath away: the boat ride on West Lake, the gardens, walking through tea fields, and the Faxi temple especially. This was the perfect day trip from Shanghai to balance the big city with nature. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.
We went to see the West Lake cruises in the rain today, and we heard a lot of stories. Hangzhou is really an unforgettable cultural place. Leo and the driver Wu are the best. I really enjoyed.

We had a lot of fun at Hanzhou. The guide was friendly and accommodating. Do consider them if anyone is thinking of visiting.
A peaceful escape in bustling Hangzhou – thank you Chloe & Mr. Sun! We had only one day in Hangzhou, and this tour was absolutely the best choice we could have made. Our guide Chloe and driver Mr. Sun made everything seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. Despite traveling during a busy holiday season, we were pleasantly surprised by how calm and uncrowded our visit to Faxi Temple felt. It was such a serene experience – a true hidden gem away from the tourist crowds. Chloe shared wonderful insights about the temple's history and culture, which made the visit even more meaningful. What we loved most, however, was the tea field experience in Meijiawu. The rolling green terraces were simply breathtaking – so beautiful and so naturally peaceful. Walking through the tea plantations and learning about Longjing tea was the highlight of our day. Every stop, from the West Lake boat ride to the local lunch and Hefang Street, was well-paced and enjoyable. Chloe was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, while Mr. Sun drove safely and smoothly throughout the day. If you only have one day in Hangzhou, we highly recommend booking this tour. It's the perfect way to see the city's highlights while still feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Kobayashi is a young and lovely guide who, in addition to her professional tour services, takes care of the elderly with great care. We appreciated her service and went back to Congress to recommend her to our friends.
We had a nice relaxed private tour of Hangzhou, the Lake, the temple and the tea gardens. Also saw the commercial area. Our guide, Luna, was cheerful, helpful and allowed us to set the pace.
Thank you very much for sharing your kind feedback! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed a relaxed private tour of Hangzhou, including West Lake, the temple, the tea gardens, and the commercial area. It’s wonderful to know that the balance of nature, culture, and city life made your experience enjoyable and well-rounded. We are especially pleased to hear your kind words about Luna. At YOUR WAY HOLIDAY, our guides are trained to be both knowledgeable and flexible, and we are glad that Luna’s cheerful and helpful approach, as well as her attention to your preferred pace, helped make your day comfortable and stress-free. One of the key advantages of our private tours is exactly this flexibility—allowing guests to fully control the pace, spend more time at the places they love, and enjoy a truly personalized experience without feeling rushed. Thank you again for choosing to explore Hangzhou with us. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to China for more relaxed and memorable journeys in the future. Warm regards, The YOUR WAY HOLIDAY Team
Chloe was an excellent guide who was full of information about the sights on the tour, including the legends surrounding local landmarks. She was very friendly and her English is excellent. Our driver, Mr. Chen, kept us safe and comfortable between sights. We enjoyed walking in the beautiful gardens around west lake and touring the linyan temple. Chloe gave us plenty of historical background so that we could better appreciate what we were seeing. After a delicious lunch, we made our way to the tea village. Chloe took us walking through the tea plantation so we could see how the tea grows and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The tea service itself was underwhelming. I thought we would see how the tea leaves are prepared and learn an bit about tea culture. Instead, it was just a cup of tea in a nondescript room and a pitch to buy some expensive tea and tea products. Despite this, I would still recommend the tour and our guide if you are looking for a thorough introduction to Hangzhou.
Thank you very much for sharing your detailed feedback about your day in Hangzhou. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with Chloe and Mr. Chen. Chloe is one of our most experienced local guides, and we are pleased that her knowledge of Hangzhou’s history, legends, and culture helped bring the city’s landmarks to life. We are also happy to know that Mr. Chen provided a safe and comfortable journey throughout the day. At YOUR WAY HOLIDAY, we believe that a great travel experience comes not only from the destinations themselves, but also from the people who accompany you along the way. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of West Lake, Lingyin Temple, and the scenic tea plantations. Hangzhou’s Longjing Tea is one of China’s most famous green teas, and we appreciate your comments regarding the tea experience. We understand that you were hoping to see more of the tea-making process. One thing that many visitors may not realize is that the tea-picking and tea-firing season for premium Longjing Tea is very limited, typically taking place only during March and April each year (But the view still good all year round). During this harvest period, guests have the opportunity to observe tea picking and, in some cases, traditional tea processing. Outside of the harvest season, local tea farmers focus primarily on tea tasting, tea culture introductions, and sharing the finished products from the year's harvest. We would also like to reassure future travelers that while tea products are available for purchase at the tea village, there is absolutely no obligation to buy anything. Our guests are always free to decide for themselves, and we never arrange any compulsory shopping stops. One of the advantages of traveling with YOUR WAY HOLIDAY is the flexibility of our private tours. Depending on the season and our guests' interests, we can customize more immersive experiences, including visits with local tea farmers, seasonal tea-picking activities, traditional tea ceremonies, and deeper cultural experiences that help travelers better understand Hangzhou's tea heritage. Thank you again for your recommendation and for choosing to explore Hangzhou with us. We hope to welcome you back to China in the future and create another memorable journey tailored to your interests.
