Itinerary
The John Flynn's Memorial Historical Reserve is just outside of Alice Springs. It is the resting place for the ashes of the Reverend John Flynn, the founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Simpsons Gap is one of the most prominent gorges located in West MacDonnell Ranges. Once you arrive at Simpsons Gap, enjoy a guided walk through the towering cliffs to the waterhole. Keep an eye out for black-footed rock wallabies!
Arrive at Angkerle (Standley Chasm), a must see natural attraction of Central Australia. Enjoy a walk along its stony watercourse, where you may see some bird and wildlife that inhabit the area. Afterwards enjoy a morning tea.
Hear from your Driver Guide how Alice Springs began as a radio repeater station along the Overland Telegraph Line. Call into the School of the Air, which provides education to primary school aged children living on remote properties in the Northern Territory
Explore the Telegraph Station, site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs, and learn how it relayed messages between Darwin and Adelaide for 60 years.
Visit the headquarters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which delivers medical services to those who live and work in remote rural Australia.
We also make a stop at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, where you can see up close and maybe touch some of the lizards and snakes of Central Australia's semi-arid desert, such as the Perentie Lizard and the Thorny Devil.
Top off your afternoon with a panoramic view over Alice and the surrounding West MacDonnell Ranges, from the top of Anzac Hill

We really enjoyed this tour. There was such a lot to see in such a small town as well as its outskirts. The scenery on our walk was magnificent. The highlight of the day for us was the Reptile Centre. Prepare to be amazed - this is Australia at its best.
Absolutely fantastic tour. Simpson's Gap & Stanley Chasm were magical and the Alice Springs best of tour in the arvo was really good. Our tour guide Roger was friendly, knowledgeable and had a great energy about him. We loved this tour.

Great overview of Alice Springs tourist spots in one very well coordinated and fascinating tour fully enhanced with excellent guide - Barry No hesitation in recommending to others.
Friendly knowledgeable driver who shared a lot about his culture which we valued. The two short walks be did were amazing. Beautiful scenery but absolutely freezing. It was a really long day and I think the last three stops could have been done in 30min rather than 40-60min. A lot of history was shared. A good way to see Alice Springs in a day.
Simpson's Gap It was a magnificent landscape. The colors and the textures were amazing, so different anything we had experieced before.
We had booked this full day tour, but it had been cancelled and the travel agent hadn't received notification, so couldn't advise us, so we got up early, waited for 90 minutes, and then walked into town to try and find the AAT Kings office. The office is NOT where it's listed on the website - in fact it doesn't exist. The phone number on the itinerary to contact AAT Kings just goes through to a recorded message, saying ring back during office hours. Not much use when you're waiting at 7 am for a tour that doesn't arrive. Eventually the Tourist Information office in Todd Mall was able to help us by providing a phone number - when we eventually got through AAT Kings said we'd been rebooked on "A Town Like Alice" half day tour commencing at 1:15pm. The Tourist Information office said we were the third complaint they had had that morning (by 10:00am) about an AAT Kings tour bus not turning up. The shorter tour was fine - but that's not what we booked or wanted. Had I known in advance, I would have just hired a car do visit the local sights which would have been cheaper and quicker. Disappointing to have this happen while we were in Alice Springs.
Hi there, Thank you very much for your feedback and apologies that the cancellation wasn't communicated to you on time. I will pass it on to the relevant teams. Jess from AAT Kings
