Itinerary
We begin the tour in the famous Seminario Park, also known as Iguana Park. This small but emblematic park is home to numerous iguanas that roam freely among visitors. Here you can observe these fascinating reptiles up close, feed them and even take some photos with them.
Mayor's Office and Administration Square: We continue our tour towards the Administration Square, where the Guayaquil Mayor's Office building is located. This place is an administrative center and an important historical point of the city. The square is adorned with statues and gardens, and is a great place to learn about local history and admire the neoclassical architecture of the Municipal Palace.
Guayaquil Cathedral: A few steps from Parque Seminario is the imposing Cathedral of Guayaquil, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Pedro. This neo-Gothic style church is one of the main Catholic temples in the city. Its interior, adorned with stained glass and impressive architectural details, offers a space of tranquility and devotion.
Moorish Tower: Walking a little further, we reach the Moorish Tower, also known as the Public Clock. This tower, with its distinctive Mudejar style, is one of the most recognized icons of Guayaquil.
Malecon 2000: Next, we head to Malecón 2000, an extensive recreational and tourist area that extends along the Guayas River. Here you will find a combination of green spaces, historical monuments and entertainment areas. It is an ideal place for a relaxing walk, with stunning views of the river and the city. We will visit the Hemicycle of the Rotonda, where the statues of Simón Bolívar and José de San Martín are located.
Las Peñas Oldtown: We end the tour in the Las Peñas neighborhood, the oldest sector of Guayaquil. This picturesque neighborhood, with its cobblestone streets and colorful colonial-style houses, is a historical and cultural gem. Climbing the steps from Numa Pompilio Llona Street to Santa Ana Hill will allow you to enjoy spectacular views of the city and the river. Along the way, you'll find art galleries, cafes, and craft shops that make this area a lovely place to explore.

I can't say enough about our excellent guide, Francisco! He was friendly, informative, and flexible. His first priority was to determine what the group wanted to see and do. He could recommend options that would meet our needs, but could easily adjust to satisfy the group. Francisco gave us a great feel of the local culture, including tasting from local fruit stands, a walk around City Hall, a walk along the river, and lunch at a new style restaurant. I highly recommend Francisco!
Our small group of new friends decided last minute to tour Guayaquil on our one free day. Lucky for us, our hotel concierge called Francisco. Francisco (and driver Sonny) customized a day that balanced sites of the city with food experiences and answers to our history questions. He even extended our tour to allow for a hat shop visit and amazing lunch. A kind, funny, thoughtful, intelligent guide. We all highly recommend!
Francisco was a fantastic tour guide, very engaging and eager to share his city and his country with us. We really appreciated that he asked right at the start what we were interested in, then checked with us throughout the day with regard to our interest, pacing, hunger, comfort, etc. He could not have been more hospitable. We initially intended only a three hour tour but we were all having such a good time that we kept going for seven hours! Again, he was most accommodating. We had a great day! Highly recommend Francisco and Protours!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely tour of Guayaquil. Our awesome guide Julio and stellar driver Javier picked us up at 10:00am at our hotel. We had an air conditioned van all to ourselves which was such a treat. We saw many touristic spots including Las Peñas, Parque Centenario, Malecón, and rode on the Aerovía. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. I am really happy I did this tour and left my hotel to see some incredible attractions in a growing and modern city! The tour was conducted in English and Spanish. Great communication and help from Francisco after booking. Thanks for a wonderful day filled with memories!
we’re visiting Guayaquil again after 32 years, to celebrate my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary with close family and friends. we had a late start today and decided to switch our plans around which led us to book this last minute tour. immediately, they were responsive, attentive and accommodating. they picked us up earlier than expected and outside the location range the app had set. that’s when we met our tour guide, Julio, and driver, André - absolutely phenomenal people. Julio is funny, personable, caring and really enjoys his job - they make an excellent duo and made us feel comfortable. we had an excellent and enjoyable time, and our group was able to enjoy the tour in Spanish and English. they were even able to customize the trip for us a bit which was a heartwarming and meaningful gesture. we were so happy with the tour and their service that we booked another last minute tour for tomorrow! highly recommend this service and can’t wait to meet them again. thank you for making our trip so special!
My husband and I came to Ecuador for a wedding and decided last minute to book a tour. We are sooo happy we found Francisco! We only had 1 day to explore the city and him and Andrew took us all over and even went out of their way to take us to extra stops that included the wedding venue! They truly went above and beyond for us and we left with an all new appreciation for Ecuador/Guayaquil.
Francisco, our guide, & Andrew, our driver, arrived promptly at our hotel lobby for a customized tour for my husband and I. Francisco’s energy, enthusiasm, & knowledge of his country are vast. And Francisco must know everyone in Ecuador! We arrived a day early to Guayaquil for an organized 12 day tour with a big tour company, so we wanted to see & do things in the city that we would not do with our big group. So I showed Francisco our agenda and he made sure to not duplicate any of those, taking us to highlights we would have otherwise missed. Great mix of sites & food — oh the food! And because we were in a private car, we were able to traverse a wide area efficiently. Fun fun day! We travel a lot and these folks are excellent. Highly recommend them!
Great tour on short notice. Hit all the highlights of Guayaquil. Deep understanding of history, culinary, indigenous, and modern life. Great company that kept is safe and engaged. Highly recommend.
This was a wonderful sightseeing tour of Guayaquil.
