Itinerary
Kreuzberg, a former working class neighborhood, attracted a young crowd as well as Turkish immigrants in the 1960ies and 70ies. It maintained much of its pre-war atmosphere throughout those years, as it was surrounded on two sides by the Berlin Wall and thus did not attract a lot of financial support from developers. Instead a very diverse, multi-ethnic neighborhood evolved. Lots of cafés, restaurants, stores and nightclubs turned Kreuzberg into a going-out place during the day and at night. Interestingly, after the Wall came down, Kreuzberg did not change much, compared to other neighborhoods. It still has that 80ies feel to it.
