Berlin: Guided Bike tour of the Berlin Wall and Third Reich

Description
From the “Führerbunker” to the Berlin Wall – On the Trail of a Divided City. Start your tour in Nikolaiviertel, five minutes from the TV Tower. Choose your bike and set off on a 15-kilometer journey filled with fascinating facts and little-known stories about Nazi-era and Cold War sites. Follow the traces of the 20th century to landmarks like the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße, original East German watchtowers, and the areas planned for the Nazis’ unrealized dream city, “Germania.” Your guide leads you through hidden corners, quiet streets, and scenic paths, bringing history vividly to life. Experience what life was like in the once-divided city. Discover why Hitler’s bunker (“Führerbunker”) is no longer accessible and explore the former Berlin Wall’s route, including ghost stations and underground bunkers. Would you like a private tour? Itinerary
Our starting point is also the only "real" old town of Berlin. But how old is it actually, especially having a war with rain of bombs in mind?
Listen to the story of civil courage, in which a police officer saved this marvelous building in the night of broken glass.
Here you can find a memorial for the victims of deportation and the Holocaust, designed in GDR times and in harsh contrast to the more well known memorial close to Brandenburg Gate.
There are three spots, where the Wall is "still alive" - this is the only part, where you can really understand and expirience what the Wall meant and did to Berlin. Edutainment at it's best.
Today commonly known for it's Sunday's flea market, this place shows how the city, tortured by the Wall for 28 years, turned into an oasis of free expression.
Once a giant fortress and air-raid-shelter, it offers a fantastic panoramic view and insights into Nazi-architecture.
This original watchtower got preserved to remember Günter Litfin, the first person who got shot at The Wall.
Cut in the middle by The Wall, this burial place was made for prussian heroes of German military history. It focuses on escape stories, since it is close to multiple former Checkpoints and a canal which was a natural border for east and west Berlin.
From here you have the perfect overview over the governing district of Germany with all it has to offer. Not only what you see is interesting though, but here we also discuss the plans of Hitler's architect Albert Speer and his vision to build the Great Hall, which would have had enough room to fit 180.000 people.
Here we stop to discuss Hitler's grab of power and Germany's democratic history. We do not have time to go inside but can get the best of it from the outside.
One of three memorials for the three biggest victim groups of the holocaust.
One of the three memorials for the three biggest groups of victims during the Holocaust.
This biggest genocide memorial in the world, created by the ones responsible for the killing. It's size and importance to history are incredible.
The place where Hitler hid during the last weeks of war and eventually committed suicide. All you can see today, is a parking lot. We explain why.
**Only in the english Version of the tour.** The most famous border station of the cold war, since it was the only shared one between the USA and USSR. Because of that, there was a point in time when the third world war almost started right here in the heart of Berlin.

Excellent tour guide. Lucus adapted the tour to our needs, good pace and very informative, it was great to see some of the real Berlin
The cycle tour with Jake was an excellent way to see the city of Berlin. Jake had a wealth of knowledge about Berlin and its history and engaged with us to make the trip interesting and enjoyable. Riding past some magnificent landmarks on a bike was an exhilarating experience.
It was an incredibly wonderful afternoon.
Two wheels - an excellent way to see Berlin. Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Nice bikes. Lovely relaxed pace of cycling with a good balance of stops and explanations. Berlin is a great city for cycling too - wide streets, cycle lanes, and other road users were very accommodating compared to London.
Björn is not just a tour guide that ticks all the boxes in terms of safety, experience and great sense of humour, he is also a passionate historian with a deep knowledge of and love for Berlin. His magical Third Reich/ Wall tour offered our group a true celebration of Berlin`s unique spirit and history and he eptitomises the old slogan "Leistung aus Leidenschaft" TipTop!!!
Be careful not to be joined to another group without your consent. This is what happened to me, and I saw the same thing as a previous tour.
You should be interested in the unique and compelling history of Berlin. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share his knowledge and love of Berlin. We saw things we never would have found but for the tour and saw some main tourist sites from a different perspective.
A very interesting and informative tour. Our guide Julia had very thorough knowledge about the Mauer and knew how to share sad, absurd and touching stories.
A fantastic tour guide, very informative and considerate of the participants. The bikes are also great. Highly recommended - and the starting point is centrally located near the Red Town Hall.
Beautiful walk with Laurence who adapted the itinerary to our desires and who brought a lot of dynamism with anecdotes drawn from her personal Berlin experience. Very good condition of the bikes and very welcome. We recommend....
