This was one of the highlights of my time in Addis Ababa. My guide Fitsum was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing Ethiopian food and culture. The tour was much more than just eating—it provided insight into local traditions, daily life, and the people. We visited several different locations and had the opportunity to try a wide variety of authentic Ethiopian foods that I never would have discovered on my own. My guide was patient with questions, tailored the experience to my interests, and made me feel completely comfortable exploring the city. As a solo female traveler, I especially appreciated how welcoming and safe the experience felt. The tour was well organized, relaxed, and incredibly informative. By the end, I felt like I had gained a much deeper understanding of Ethiopia through its food, people, and culture. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Addis Ababa. If you’re looking for an authentic local experience with an excellent guide, this is the one to book.
Really loved this tour. The route itself was great and took us through some really interesting neighbourhoods that I probably would never have seen on my own. The meat options were also really interesting to try, but I appreciated that there was never any pressure if something felt a bit outside your comfort zone and a cooked version was also available. Trying to make injera was such a fun part of the experience too and much harder than it looked!!
Loved this tour with Fitsum. It was really relaxed and flexible, and I got to try so many different things. The food just kept coming and coming, but everything was delicious and really interesting. I also loved hearing the stories behind the dishes. It made the whole experience feel more local and gave me a much better understanding of Ethiopian food. Would definitely recommend.
Good: Booking the tour was very easy, and our guide was great. Fitsum was a great guide and very passionate about sharing his knowledge with us. We learned about the coffee bean, different regions, and which coffee beans they grow, etc. As we continued our tour, we went into the neighborhoods in Addis where locals hang out and eat. We tried many different dishes, and it was a pleasure to share them with our guide. Bad: The unfortunate part is that my friend and I both fell sick by the end of the day. We notified our guide, who escalated this immediately to management. The management team assured us that they are going to look into the places they recommend for this trip and also offered us a full refund.
