What to Expect: Your experience begins with a warm welcome, just as any Albanian guest would receive a glass of homemade raki, a cup of traditional Turkish style coffee sweetened to your taste all served with a smile. Then, it’s time to put on your apron! Under the guidance of your host, you’ll prepare a full homemade meal using traditional recipes from the Berat region. Everything is made by you, from scratch, with local and seasonal ingredients.

My Husband and I had a wonderful night learning how to cook Albanian food. We were welcomed with Turkish coffee and Raki followed by very good wine. The family was really kind and patient with us. The father's daughter was super helpful in teaching us how to roll the dough and took lots of pictures and videos for us. We ate all together in their garden and talked until the sun went down. All ingredients in the food are fresh and homemade. Highly recommend this tour if you are looking to learn Albanian culture and have a very authentic personable experience in Berat with a local family

This will be a highlight of your trip if you enjoy food and learning about a country through local knowledge and stories. From start to finish it was so easy as we contacted Edison directly through WhatsApp. He is able to tell you what is available and for us it was whether they would be able to accommodate for vegans (I am vegan and my partner is not). He quickly told us that he could and we paid card at their office which was so convenient. When we got the local family home his brother in law, Cimi and mother, Merita, greeted us with raki and Turkish coffee. The cooking class itself was hands on and I felt like I was home. All the ingredients are locally sourced and will depend on the season. We absolutely loved this experience and feel it’s a MUST when you visit Berat.

One of the highlights of our time in Albania! We joined the cooking workshop in a local family home and from the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed like family rather than tourists. The grandmother, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and granddaughters shared not only their recipes but also their warmth, hospitality, and culture. Learning to prepare traditional Albanian dishes together was both fun and fascinating. Watching Grandma expertly roll the dough for the spinach byrek was worth the experience alone! At the end, we all gathered outside to enjoy a wonderful feast of the dishes we had prepared, accompanied by wine, stories, laughter, and great conversation. This is exactly the type of experience we look for when we travel. Not just seeing a destination, but connecting with local people and learning about their daily lives and traditions. A huge thank you to Qato Tours and the wonderful family for creating such an authentic and memorable experience. We had a lovely private cook lesson by the local at home . The made us feel like home as soon as we walked in to the door . Very nice and friendly family and we maked the tradition Albania food . So nice to be there . Thank you . Highly recommend
