Itinerary

30 min

During the war, Robert E. Lee spent time in Savannah, and legend has it he once walked the very grounds where this hotel now stands. As you sip locally crafted cocktails, you'll hear stories of Lee’s presence in Savannah, the city's complex Civil War legacy, and how history still lingers beneath the surface—sometimes with a ghostly twist.

24 min

Beneath the quiet charm of Madison Square lies a battlefield of memory. Flanked by statues and historic homes, this square was once a hub of Civil War activity. At this stop, we’ll uncover the stories of Confederate generals, local resistance, and the Union occupation that reshaped Savannah’s streets. As you sip your drink nearby, you'll hear how Madison Square became a silent witness to strategy, sacrifice, and Southern defiance—a perfect blend of beauty and bloodshed in the heart of the city.

30 min

As Savannah’s oldest and most prominent square, Johnson Square was a center of commerce, communication, and Civil War-era decision-making. At this stop, we’ll explore how the city’s elite gathered here—debating secession, funding the Confederacy, and shaping Savannah’s role in the conflict. Surrounded by monuments and whispers of the past, you’ll sip your drink where bankers, generals, and Southern strategists once shaped the fate of a divided nation.

30 min

Today, Ellis Square is a bustling social hub—but during the Civil War, it was a vital center for commerce, supplies, and auctions that helped fuel the Southern war effort. At this stop, we’ll explore the square’s darker past, its role in the Confederate economy, and how it transformed under Union occupation. With a drink in hand, you’ll stand where soldiers once marched and merchants once profited—a place where war and daily life collided in the heart of Savannah.

Sam gave a great overview...

Sam gave a great overview of Savannah's role in the civil war while weaving other local history in. It was easy to tell that he was passionate about history and spent a lot of time outside of work researching information.

Disappointing Tour

The experience is not as described. You will not stop at 5 bars to learn about the Generals who fought in the war. You will walk through the grids and learn about some history of the grid and statue.

Fun + informative -- great tour guide!

We had such a wonderful time! Tour was fun and informative, and our tour guide Sam was so great that we called to book a second tour with him the next day. Highly suggest as a way to see the city on one of your first days in Savannah!

Joann kept us all...

Joann kept us all interested in historic Savannah. It was a chilly evening but we started at 6/Pence and visited other establishments on the way. A walk through a cemetery was informative as well. It ended at bootleggers on the river

Great drinks and information

Great tour with lots of fun facts and alcohol! I appreciated that we didn't have to pay for the drinks ahead of time and we could choose which bars we wanted a drink at and which we might not. It is not really about the civil war (Which the description says it is). Our tour guide was up front about that from the beginning. Even so, she did a great job giving information about Savannah and it was still really informative. I would recommend the tour company change the description a bit because if someone wanted to learn about the civil war they might be a bit disappointed.

Becca was very...

Becca was very knowledgeable about Savannahs history and was a great guide. Lots of interesting tidbits of information about history, but also about architecture and other things that you would probably miss if you were just walking around.

Joanna is an awesome guide!

Joanna was a super chill and fun guide. She took us off the beaten path a bit, shared bits of crazy history we had not heard, and even better…introduced us to some fab bartenders. A super fun night!
