The Royal Monastery of St Mary of Pedralbes, founded in 1326 by Queen Elisenda of Montcada, third wife of James II of Aragon, provides a unique cultural and historical record of the community of Poor Clare Nuns who lived there practically without a break from 1327 to 1982. Its artistic heritage has become a reference for the study of the customs, fashions and models of secular and religious life. This card is complete garbage. It works once and then doesn't work after that. I bought 2 five day passes. Because they only scan once and stop working, I had to buy about 5 or 6 of these cards over the 5 days we were in Barcelona. Ripoff!!!!
In order to visit the city it might be useful to buy the Barcelona Card, proposed in the 72, 96 or 120 hour version. I state, however, that you will have to evaluate well what you plan to visit and how many days you will have available because, compared to similar cards from other cities, it may be less convenient. For example, top attractions such as the Sagrada Familia, the Cathedral, the Santa Maria del Mar Basilica and Park Guell are not included and other famous monuments/sites (Casa Batllò, Casa La Pedrera and San Pau Recinte Modernista) allow entry with a small discount. In conclusion, in my opinion it is worth buying it if: 1) you move around a lot on foot and by public transport which is included, including the train that connects you from the airport to the city centre and the metro. 2) you have 3-5 days to discover the city and you are interested in visiting especially the museums In fact ... here are some of the free museums included in the card Fundaciò Joan Mirò, Moco Museum, Museu Bansky, MACBA, Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Museu Picasso. Discounts: Casa Amatller (-20%), Casa Batllò (-€ 7), Casa Milà La Pedrera (- € 1), Mirador Torre Glòries (- 20%), Palau de la Musica Catalana (- 25%), San Pau Recinte Modernista (- 20%) and Telefèric de Montjuic (-15%). Small discounts are also provided in some guided tours, tours and commercial activities. N.B.: In our case (purchased the 96-hour version at the price of € 67/person) it turned out to be very useful and convenient, also because the entrances to museums / sites in Barcelona are on average more expensive than those in Italy
Convenient to have for busses and trains and some nice smaller museums. Easy to retrieve and friendly visitor centre staff.
We recently purchased the Barcelona Card for a four-day trip, and it was an absolutely excellent decision that significantly enhanced our visit. The card provided incredible value and flexibility. Getting from the airport was seamless, as the card covered the public transportation needed to get into the city center. For the subsequent four days, we took full advantage of the included unlimited public transportation within the city. This was a massive benefit—we were able to hop on the metro, buses, and trams whenever we liked, making us feel completely flexible and free to explore every neighborhood without worrying about purchasing individual tickets. Another major highlight was the free entry to museums and attractions. We visited several fantastic museums that were included in the card, which saved us a substantial amount of money on admission fees. The ability to just walk in and start exploring, combined with the transit convenience, meant we maximized our sightseeing time. If you plan to use public transport and visit a few of the included museums or attractions, the Barcelona Card is highly recommended. It’s an easy, cost-effective, and stress-free way to experience Barcelona
No interest, 108€ for 4 for 2 days not at all profitable. The discounts are wrong: you can not buy online cheaper, but on the spot more expensive, the card just compensates the difference, with the disadvantage of sometimes queuing! The family transport card has €11.60 for 8 trips is enough up to 5 trips/day. You have to do a marathon program of 6 museums and take the metro / bus more than 6 times a day to make a profit.
Dear costumer, thank you for your review. It's unfortunate that you coudln't make the most of your visit thanks to the Barcelona Card. One thing I might say is that the discounts are real and well received by the costumers; also there are 27 free museums to visit, including Picasso and Miró. I believe that such a product must be used wisely with enough planning ahead
You need to read very carefully what is included in the card and what is not. All major attractions (e.g. all Gaudí's works) are not included, there is only one discount but it is not valid if you book online (and you have to book well in advance if you want to enter!). In addition, some bus lines, type L94 - L95, are excluded. This detail on the website we did not find and for the location of our hotel we had to take L95, therefore having to pay for the rides (2.65 € per ride). In the end it is only useful for those traveling in the center and want to see the minor attractions.
Could not use this as a Barcelona Card to get into museums. They want a physical Barcelona Card, not something in your Apple Wallet. Very disappointing.
Dear Mark, thank you for your review. It's unfortunate that you couldn't use the Barcelona Card but, as specified in the purchase page and on the confirmation voucher, the card needs to be picked up at the information points. As you might understand there are some technology limitations related to the museums included. In this case I believe that the useless comment and the 1 star review is unnecessary as it's not describing the product but the difficulty you had in understanding how to redeem your purchase. I hope one day you could enjoy fully the product.
We did a museum a day and a night out as well so the transportation function really benefited us. But you could easily do 2 museums a day and nights out we just were pacing ourselves.
The Barcelona Card with 72 hours of transport, including trips to the airport, and access to museums was definitely great value for money! It made exploring the city like a local so much easier. The convenience of having unlimited transport access throughout Barcelona was a huge plus, and the museum entries were a fantastic bonus. The only downside was that we couldn’t pick up the card from the airport, as it closes at 8:30 pm and we arrived at 10:45 pm. However, the second pickup location at Plaça Catalunya was easy to find and get to, which made up for the initial inconvenience. Overall, I highly recommend this card—it really enhanced our trip!
Best bargain if you’re traveling to Barcelona. Savings on museums alone pay you back for your purchase. Easy to travel through Barcelona on the buses. Many of the best museums are either free or at a discounted rate.
