This show and dinner experience is the most expensive in Bangkok and sponsored by the Mandarin hotel. You can either do a 4 course or 5 course dinner. Drinks of course are extra. Ot all lasts for 2 hours and you can arrive earlier if you want. The first noticeable thing is the price list for wine. How can you charge $20 for a glass of riesling or an aperol spritz??!!. Crazy. We arrived 30 minutes early and were seated immediately. The show musical ensemble was playing Thai traditional music which was pleasant. I have to say that none of the 4 course meal selections appealed to us. We had already eaten at several restaurants during the week, including a street food tour that was much much better in terms of taste and texture than what was provided at this show. Extremely disappointing and I would never do this again. The only decent food was the tiny bit of ice cream at the end. I am not bashing this place, but for the final $267 price, I would have rather had the $3 chicken dish at the street vendor. In fact we had an awesome lunch at the Jim Thompson house and drinks for $110. No show but the meal was fantastic. If it is a tradional show you really want, then find another venue which I noticed for half the price. Truly disappointing dinner. Perhaps it was meant to represent traditional Thai food and my palate was not getting along with it, but we went to several locations across Bangkok and had no poor experiences related to food. I'm sure the Mandarin hotel serves excellent food, but they missed the boat with the show menu.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on this experience. We’re sorry to hear that the dining and show didn’t meet your expectations, especially considering the price and anticipation. It sounds like the traditional aspects of the show were a pleasant start, but it’s disappointing that the menu did not align with your tastes after enjoying other meals in Bangkok. We appreciate your comparison with other experiences and recommendations, and we’ll share your comments with the team to help improve for future guests. Thank you again for your honest insights.
