The Grand Palace is Bangkok’s most iconic landmark and a symbol of Thailand’s rich history and royal heritage. Built in 1782, this magnificent complex once served as the royal residence of Thai kings for over 150 years. Within its ornate walls lies Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. With its dazzling golden spires, intricate carvings, and stunning architecture, the Grand Palace remains a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Bangkok.
Located within the Grand Palace complex, Wat Phra Kaew is Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist temple and home to the revered Emerald Buddha, a highly venerated statue carved from a single block of jade. Built in 1782, the temple is renowned for its intricate architecture, vibrant murals, and exquisite golden details that reflect the spiritual and artistic heart of Thai culture. A visit here offers a glimpse into Thailand’s royal and religious heritage.
Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is right behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – it’s a must-see for any first-time visitor to Bangkok. As one of the largest temple complexes in the city, it’s famed for its giant reclining Buddha that is 46 metres long, covered in gold leaf. This an A World Heritage Site
Wat Arun, locally known as Wat Chaeng, is a landmark temple on the west (Thonburi) bank of the Chao Phraya river. It’s easily one of the most stunning temples in Bangkok, not only because of its riverside location but also because the design is very different from the other temples you can visit in the Thai capital. Wat Arun (nicknamed the 'Temple of Dawn') is partly made up of colourfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water.

Nina was amazing! She felt like a part of our family. Friendly and hospitable. Vey knowledgeable about the are and all the history of the temples. She was efficient and got us through evrything in a timely manner withour rushing. She even had recommendations of where to go, and not to go including food/restaurants for delicious authentic Thai food. She provided umbrellas, and water bottles. The ride was clean and smooth. She was funny and also explained Thai etiquette. She called out those that were disobeying the rules but in a polite way. Highly recommend taking her tour. We even experienced a tuk tuk ride and a ferry ride.
We had a great day tour with Pat, he was really nice knowledgeable and very kind. I think it was the perfect length of a tour.
A great option for someone who has a one day stopover in Bangkok. Doing the afternoon session means you can have a sleep in and miss the morning crowds. The itinerary and guide were both just what I wanted. And it was only my husband and I, so a private tour :-) Unfortunately, one of the reasons for choosing this tour was the promise of an air-conditioned car and we didn't have that. We started with a river cruise to the grand palace and emerald Buddha on an air-conditioned boat, then a tuk tuk to the reclining Buddha ( wat pho), then a ferry across the river to the temple of dawn. These were all typical Bangkok tourist experiences, but it was too hot for me.
The host did a magnificent job of making sure that everyone stayed together. She took her time explaining all of the different traditions and rituals of Thailand temples and even gave us the history of the king and Queens and the different types of statues. I really enjoyed learning about thailand with Miss Cindy.
We booked the private "Bangkok Heritage Highlights" tour and it was worth every penny. Our guide, Cindy, was absolutely incredible. She didn’t just recite dates and facts; she brought the history and culture of Thailand to life with such passion. Beyond her knowledge, Cindy really looked after us. From finding the best photo spots to keeping us hydrated and comfortable, we truly felt like we were getting the VIP treatment. If you’re looking for a seamless, educational, and personalized experience of the Grand Palace and the Three Temples, ask for Cindy!
We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the highlights of Bangkok with our wonderful tour guide Nina who was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. This tour is also ideal as they get you to each location but numerous ferries, tuk-tuk which made navigating very simple overall.
Great tour! Great guide! As the tour title implies, it hits all the temples & palace highlights in this half-day tour. No one else booked our group tour; and, rather than canceling, Viator gave us a private tour. Our guide, Pat, was a superb professional; prompt, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He offered lots of things to do and ways to do them that made the experience feel customized; including transportation - we took a Tuk-Tuk and a river ferry. It was our first time visiting Bangkok and this was a great introduction.
We took the private experience which provided us insight into what we were looking at, strongly recommend if you don’t know the culture or language.
We had an incredible experience on our tour, and a huge part of that was thanks to our tour guide, Pat. He was absolutely amazing—extremely knowledgeable, well-educated, and truly passionate about what he does. Pat shared such rich insight into the history of Thailand, Buddhism, the temples, and the royal family, which made every stop meaningful and engaging. We booked a private/personal tour, which included hotel pickup for an additional charge, and it made the entire experience so much more convenient and stress-free. From start to finish, everything was seamless. Beyond his expertise, Pat’s customer service was top-tier. He was polite, professional, and had a great sense of humor that kept the experience fun and relaxed throughout the day. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. I would highly recommend Pat to anyone looking for an informative, enjoyable, and well-organized tour in Thailand. This experience exceeded our expectations!
Tour guide communication was effective and to top it off. she had a wealth of historical knowledge. From the start she was welcoming, friendly and just fun to be around.
