Bangkok is the perfect city of contrasts. Street food stalls outside Michelin restaurants, stilted homes alongside flashy high rises, and a melting pot of culinary influences that have evolved through the ages. Yet most people come to Thailand and eat the same thing they get at home: Pad Thai and Green Curry. But there’s so much more to offer. On this tour, you’ll taste your way through time and try Thailand’s regional cuisine that makes up Thailand’s culinary identity. From Chinese immigrants to Northern Thai ethnic groups, our goal is to introduce dishes that are new to you, at places you’d never think to visit. Hop in our tuk-tuks and explore traditional neighborhoods and local markets, plus a splash of today’s hipster scene as well. This tour is not recommended for vegetarians, vegans, or gluten-free individuals. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but substitutions will be very limited. Please let us know before your tour date as same-day requests cannot be guaranteed.

Go beyond Thailand’s well-known dishes on this tuktuk journey through old-Bangkok at places you’d never find on your own. This tour will show you where the locals eat while we discover centuries-old regional cuisines of Thailand across 5 authentic stops, away from the tourists in Chinatown. This tour starts at the Hua Lamphong Subway Station. An email will be sent with meeting location details and directions immediately after booking.
Start your night by savoring **Tom Yum Wontons**, a delicious fusion of Chinese and Thai flavors, blending tom yum ingredients like lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime with crispy fried wontons, served alongside a bowl of tom yum noodles. Then, wander through Bangkok’s hidden alleyways, a maze of vibrant street art, historic temples, and stunning riverside views, ending with a picturesque sunset over the pagodas.
Stroll through one of Bangkok’s oldest markets for an authentic glimpse into local street food culture. Discover popular central and southern Thai dishes like fried plantains, handmade lemongrass sausage, seasonal fruits, and more! Then visit a beloved auntie for her charcoal grilled satay skewers marinated in coconut milk, turmeric, and aromatic spices, then dipped in her homemade peanut sauce.
Isan cuisine is celebrated for its robust flavors combining spicy, sour, and umami. At this long-standing restaurant, we’ll try minced pork with aromatic herbs (Laab), fresh papaya salad (Som Tum), fragrant sticky rice, and meatballs fried with lime leaves for a perfect blend of these traditional flavors.
Bangkok’s favorite sweet treat is a sight to behold. Allow your guide to choose the best combination of seasonal fruit and popular add-ons, all swimming in fresh coconut milk.

Taxis and local ride-share apps like Grab and Bolt are available in Bangkok. Keep in mind that Bangkok traffic is always congested and timing is unpredictable. If you decide to travel by car, please allow plenty of extra time. If you are dropped off at a different exit, the best thing to do is go downstairs into the subway station and follow signs to exit 4. (Please note: traffic will be heavy around this area during rush hour. Please allow plenty of extra time.)

What a wonderful evening with Cha cha our guide tasting the true Bangkok. From little holes on the wall to a bustling market well off the tourist trail we ate like locals and also Kings. Make sure you come hungry as the servings are generous and the food is too good not to finish - we ate at 5 stops ! Cha cha was delightful and so knowledgeable, plus travelling across the city by Tuk Tuk we had the bonus of a sightseeing tour. Thanks again for a memorable night

We had a delicious and memorable experience with Lost Plate and Mona Tours. With 11 stops, we were full to bursting with food we would not have found ourselves made by kind, talented cooks all over Bangkok. The food includes staples from several regions of Thailand, as well as a visit to a local fresh market to sample fruit and prepared food items. This is a not-to-be missed experience!

Cha Cha our tour guide was a great host. He explained so much of the Thailand/Chinese culture and traditions to us. There was various food tasting, however my absolute favorite was the noodle and soup and the sticky mango rice at the end. I truly enjoyed the tour and learning so much about the culture. It was a great tour and experience. Around 4 houra tour combined with 5 food local stops (some small restaurants, local market, street food.. finishing with a drink in a rooftop. At the same time you walk around and it was also possible to admire the sunset on the river side. Food was tasty... big quantity and really worth... local places chosen to eat were also very cool. Our guide, ChaCha was great. THANKS to you because you make the trip more enjoyable. Very nice guide, explaining everything very clear, good level of English and knowledge. If you have the tour with ChaCha you won't be dissapointed.

We had a SO MUCH food. Our tour guide was lovely and very friendly. It was a small tour so loads of leftovers (which was a shame) but still a great experience. Cha-cha took us to local places and even picked up a few bits extra when we asked about them so we could try. He also took us on a little walk to see some other sites as we went. Very thoughtful!

I've been a Lost Plate fan for a long time now, but haven't been in Asia lately to enjoy them. Fortunately, work sent me to a conference in Thailand and some colleagues and I arranged to experience the Bangkok edition of their evening food tour. It was a blast and they were super accomodating as we managed not just one but two private groups. You MUST come hungry. At just the first stop we ate what was basically a light lunch. And it got better from there. Everything was delicious but if you want to enjoy it all, you need room in your stomach!
