Wonderful Historic Experience!

If you are looking to explore old Bangalore before the city grew up then this tour will provide you with an unforgettable experience. Praveen, our tour guide, did a great job providing us with the history of this old part of Bangalore. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the city he grew up in and wants others to experience his passion and all that the city has to offer! The group started the tour at the Sri Aurobindo Bhaven, a former royal home, now a quiet spiritual haven in the heart of Bangalore. Our tour was later in the day so we had the chance to experience the evening hustle and bustle of an old market, Halasura market, peek into some of the local residents homes, see them selling fruits, vegetables, and other items. I do recommend wearing good tennis shoes as this part of the walk has uneven ground. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting the Shree Swanny Temple at night. We were there during a festive time, and seeing the locals making offerings with food, lighting candles, and waiting in line to make their blessing made for a special experience and feeling. I highly recommend taking this tour with Praveen experiencing old Bangalore!

Amazing intro to city

First off, Praveen is great. I'd take any tour with him. Wealth of information. This walking tour included: ashram, old British church, Hindu temple, sheik temple, old British part of town and old native part of town. The best part was walking thru a small (and manageable) bazaar, and getting snacks. Try the Indian prunes. Be prepared to take your shoes off for temples. You can wear socks.

Varied & Interesting

This walking tour is a great way to explore some different facets of the city. Going at a nice relaxed pace, we discovered some of the different quarters of this part of the city while learning facts about different eras of history, religion, culture & we also tasted some snacks. A great way to do a little exploring and learn something along the way.

Excellent historical, botanical, political, societal, cultural walking tour all rolled up into one!

I spent a wonderful morning with Praveen touring various Hindu and Sikh temples and a British colonial military chuch, strolling through old markets, and admiring beautiful architechture and trees around the Ulsoor area. Praveen was extremely knowledgable, flexible with scheduling, and customized the tour based on my interests. Highly recommended for solo travelers, families, or business people while working or visiting in the area.
