Itinerary

20 min

Bow Lake is a serene alpine lake along the Icefields Parkway, known for its crystal-clear turquoise water and dramatic mountain backdrop. Fed by glaciers from the Wapta Icefield, the lake reflects surrounding peaks like a mirror on calm summer days. It’s a peaceful stop perfect for photos, short walks along the shore, and taking in the raw beauty of the Canadian Rockies.

Admission included60 min

Sightseeing: View the glacier from designated roadside viewpoints and nearby trails. Short Hike: Walk the Toe of the Glacier Trail to get close to the glacier’s edge (about 1 km round trip). Photography: Capture stunning views of the glacier, surrounding peaks, and moraine landscape. Interpretive Signs: Learn about the glacier’s history and retreat through informative signs along the trail. Rest of the time will be allocated for transportation between spots.

30 min

Discover the power and beauty of Sunwapta Falls, where glacier-fed waters plunge through a dramatic canyon just off the Icefields Parkway. A short, easy walk brings you to breathtaking viewpoints, with the thunder of the falls all around. Explore forested trails to the peaceful lower falls and enjoy a perfect spot for nature photography and a scenic picnic. A must-stop for anyone exploring the Canadian Rockies!

20 min

Tangle Creek Falls in summer is a refreshing alpine waterfall fed by snowmelt, flowing powerfully down rocky cliffs surrounded by lush mountain scenery. It’s an easy roadside stop, perfect for quick photos, a short walk, and enjoying the cool mist on a warm day.

45 min

Peyto Lake is one of the most iconic lakes in the Canadian Rockies, famous for its unreal turquoise color and unique wolf-shaped form. From the scenic viewpoint, the lake opens up like a natural masterpiece, surrounded by glaciers, rugged peaks, and endless alpine wilderness. In summer, the vibrant color created by glacial rock flour is at its brightest, making Peyto Lake a breathtaking stop and a must-see highlight of any Rockies journey.

Pass by

Crowfoot Glacier is a striking glacier visible directly from the Icefields Parkway. Once shaped like a crow’s foot, it has slowly retreated over time, offering a powerful reminder of climate change.

20 min

Enjoy a stop at the beautiful Waterfowl Lakes, surrounded by rugged mountain peaks and crystal-clear turquoise water. Travelers can take a short walk to scenic viewpoints, admire the peaceful atmosphere, and capture stunning photos of one of the Icefields Parkway’s hidden gems. Top Choice Tours and our...

Top Choice Tours and our guide YG were great! This tour was perfect for seeing the best of Jasper. Yg stayed flexible looking out for weather conditions and adjusted our plans to ensure we got the best views with the best weather, in addition to the best photography spots. The bonus of a light picnic, provided a nice mid-tour reset and the small group nature of the tour makes it very comfortable. Definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to comfortably see Jasper!

A Picnic by the lake

Our tour was exceptionally well planned, with amazing stops at glaciers, waterfalls, and beautiful lakes. Every location was breathtaking and thoughtfully chosen. A special thank you to our guide, YG, who went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. The highlight for me was when he set up a picnic by the lake, allowing us to relax & take in the incredible scenery. That personal touch made the tour feel truly special.

Don’t miss the great team. (Viator with Veronica and Igor). Top Choice

Yehor and his wife led a fun tour. They are mindful of places to stop for coffee/snacks and for bathroom breaks. Both show great attention to all in the trip. We are in our 80’s and they made sure we were okay. The picnic is in an absolutely gorgeous setting and not crowded with people. I would add a little more native people history or invite an indigenous person to come along. Such beautiful scenery.

Operator response

Hello Rebecca, Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for traveling with us. It truly means a lot to hear that you felt comfortable and well taken care of during the tour. We always try to create a relaxed experience with enough time for breaks, good food, and beautiful uncrowded locations, so we are very happy you enjoyed the picnic and scenery. We also really appreciate your suggestion regarding Indigenous history and culture. That is a very valuable point, and we will definitely think about how we can include more local history and perspectives in our tours in the future. It was a pleasure meeting you both, and we hope to see you again in the Canadian Rockies someday. Wishing you many more wonderful adventures ahead!

It’s a long day but worth it! YG is an incredible guide who is extremely knowledgeable of all locations he takes you to. Not only that, but he always had awesome spots for you to take pictures at every location. He was also incredible enough to take time and get to know everyone on his tour. Great experience overall, and beautiful locations.

Majestic!

We feel lucky to have chosen this trip, which turned out to be sensational – thanks both to the spectacular landscapes and to the qualities of our guide. Let’s start with the scenery. The route is framed by the Rocky Mountains, glacier after glacier, culminating in the impressive Athabasca Glacier, which we were even able to climb towards for a closer look. Our next stops – Sunwapta Falls and Tangle Creek Falls – were wonderful, and Ygor, our highly capable guide, not only accompanied us to show the very best spots for memorable photos, but also offered physical help and encouragement on trails that were not always the easiest. On top of that, he even took some amazing pictures of us. For our picnic, we stopped at Lake Abraham, which seemed endless. We were glad that the snack options thoughtfully covered several different diets. The day ended with a beautiful view of Peyto Lake and a large reddish moon on the way back. Despite the fact that it was a long day – we covered about 900 km, starting very early in the morning, with many stops along the way – we appreciated that we never felt rushed. We had enough time to fully enjoy each special place. Thank you, Igor, and Top Choice Tours!
