We start the sailing trip from the Kissamos Port. We set up the sails and if we found wind you can feel the freedom during you sail with the power of the wind. On the way you can see the peninsula Gramvousa and the caves and near the cape you see the dramatic steep cliffs. When we pass the Cape we turn to the south and then present the Gramvousa Island and after the Lagoon of Balos.
At Gramvousa Island we anchor and it is the time for the first swimming. During our staying at Gramvousa Island we have time to snorkeling and swimming, to Visit the Castle of Gramvousa Island and enjoying a fresh completed meal cooked on board.
At the top of a steep rock you can visit the Castle of Gramvousa Island and enjoying spectacular views. This Castle was build from Venetians and finished by Arabians. From This Castle began on 1825 the successful revolution of the Cretan people when they push out the Turkish.
The Lagoon of Balos it is voted many times in the top beaches in the world. Walk to the crystal shallows water and enjoy the nature beauty of the pink sandy beach.
It is time to return back to Kissamos port. On the way back we can see the dramatic steep kliffs of the west side of the peninsula Gramvousa and the clear blue water.

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for Balos. Thin flip-flops can be risky. It’s best to explore the area on land first and then go for a swim. Since the sailing boat can be quite rocky, people who are sensitive to motion sickness should avoid eating too much beforehand.

This was an amazing experience and one of our favorites of the trip. Vasilis was suggested from a friend who used him for her family trip. Vasilis carefully crafted a day where we essentially had balos and garmvousa beach to ourselves. The food on the boat was excellent. His humour was great and he provided beverages for all of us. I would 100 percent use him again.his semi private boats are limited to 8 so you get an intimate experience. Book ahead as he fills up !

This was the best birthday vacation I have ever had with my two friends and thank you to Luis and Thennis not sure if that's how their name is spelled but they were amazing and their cooking was truly amazing they made everything so special we had such an amazing time!!

Terrific day sailing with an experienced and thoughtful crew. The beaches were beautiful and the home cooked lunch was incredible. Bring some extra adult beverages with you if you are looking to have a drink or two before lunch. Definitely recommend!
Do not pass on this experience if in Crete. This was the best vacation day I have ever had. The boat was beautiful. The crew Themos and Jo were great hosts, very skilled and friendly. The meal served for lunch was delicious and better than most restaurant food I’ve had in Greece.. The two beach destinations were absolutely beautiful.. We had a blast, hiking, snorkeling and exploring.. 10/10!
Highly recommended. At the time of booking there were no reviews on Viator but there were some in Tripadvisor and the website seemed legit. Good choice to book for sure. Vasilis was our friendly skipper with his niece and yacht Izabela, we were a friendly group of six people sharing the trip. Good pace for full day trip, avoid the very large and crowded ship that goes to Balos, or the land route. Plenty of time to swim, visit Gramvousa fortress and Balos beach, while having lunch and snacks on the yacht. In particular great as there were not many similar options from Kissamos, you either have to take the large ship or rent full yacht, which for a couple is not efficient. So we were very satisfied. Note that the starting point in Viator app has been marked in Kissamos center for some reason, while it is actually in Kissamos port, just on the right hand side, so should plan extra 10 mins or so driving from Kissamos. No issue parking car, but can be a bit of traffic jam in the evening as everyone finishes their day in the port. Our drive back to Chania took about 55 mins.
