We loved the experience! They explained to us the history and culture of Samarkand. Would definitely recommend! :)
What a treat to have John again as our tour guide (see our review of the Sun Institute tour) Yes we made our bread and it was delicious! Thanks to him we again had a chance to get to appreciate Uzbek culture as he was very helpful and spoke perfect English.
Opportunity to get a glimpse into the local cultural where the making, and breaking, of bread plays a very important role. Guide was helpful, interesting and spoke great English.
It was amazing to see the full process of how they make the traditional Samarkand Bread in a real bakery. Not a show arranged for Tourists - but the real deal - exactly what one wants to see! Abdel Aziz translates and explains everything, takes pictures and Videos and makes sure the eyperience is great. The Baker guys are also nice! I could also try all the parts of the process myself - hands-on. I highly recommend this activity. And as a bread lover especially :)
A genuinely authentic Samarkand experience. I came solo and Abdulaziz made it feel personal from the moment we met — he’s the kind of guide where the real test is whether they feel like a friend by the end of the tour, and he absolutely did. We baked traditional non bread in a tandir oven, and he shared the cultural context behind every step: why the bread is stamped a certain way, how families share it, what it means in Uzbek hospitality. His knowledge is excellent and his warmth is the real product here. If you want to skip past the tourist version of Samarkand and actually experience how locals live and eat, this is the one to book. Highly recommended.
My friend Jim, I am excited to read that you enjoyed an amazing experience. It was such a pleasure to guide you through Uzbek culture.
This was amazing! Our tour guide Abdulaziz was so sweet and full of knowledge about Samarkand, he told us a lot of stories while we were driving to a local bakery, true hidden gem. In the bakery they explained to us everything about the process of baking this delicious bread and we had a chance to try some parts of the process by ourselves. Our teens loved the whole experience too and this is a must do when you are in Samarkand!
Dear Guest, I am truly happy that you loved this authentic experience. It was such a pleasure to shape the dough, stamp with beautiful decorations and bake Samarkand bread with you. Thank you!
A truly authentic and hands-on experience in Samarkand. We made our own Samarkand bread in a real local bakery and learned techniques we’d never see as regular tourists. Abdulaziz made everything easy and engaging, and the fresh bread we baked ourselves was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended if you want something interactive and cultural.
Dear Guest, I am excited to hear that you enjoyed the hands-on experience. Wishing you more cultural tours in Uzbekistan!

It was a pleasure to experience this local bread-baking activity with you. I am truly happy that you enjoyed it.
