Only eight places in the world produce volcanic wines. Just think of the romance that surrounds wines grown in soils born of molten earth and ash. Volcanic soils account for only 1 percent of the world’s surface but contribute a much larger percentage of the world’s great vineyards. Volcanic wines have captivated adventurous wine lovers looking to shock their palates with something different. This is a micro-production wine from the volcanic Azores islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is grown in volcanic basalt at sea level, less than 50m from the Atlantic. This terroir and the blend of varieties imbue this wine with incredible minerality and purity, as well as unmistakable stony flavours, salinity, and a savoury character, minerality and volcanic wines walk hand-in-hand. Itinerary
Visit the wine museum and the winery with a guide. Taste the wine of this producer and visit the cellar. (Sundays and Mondays the museum is closed, we will visit another winery our provide a wine taste at the picnic area)
Volcanic terroir - Walk along the land where the grapes are produced and understand its unique characteristics. Enjoy the magnificent landscape of this village in the north of the island and visit the famous natural ocean pools.
In a relaxing atmosphere in the garden of an Azorean family, try several different Azorean volcanic wines (at least 3 wines/full bottle on the table) accompanied by appetizing tastings of the island's flavors.
Be dazzled by this landscape. After the viewpoint, make a quick visit to this small town by the beach.

Great wine tasting featuring Azorean wines and local specialties (sausages, cheese, bread, olives, and cake). A very exclusive experience, as the tasting was held just for the two of us. For a very reasonable €25, we were picked up from our accommodation and driven back afterwards. The drive itself turned into a small island tour with stunning viewpoints and plenty of great recommendations. Warm, welcoming, humorous, and delicious throughout. Absolutely recommended!
We really enjoyed the scenic wine tour, with the last stop at Victor and Helia's home base, which is set up perfectly to host outdoor parties. We learned a lot about the island, wine & food culture, and especially Terceira's tradition of Tourada à corda. Victor provided invaluable information for recommendations around the entire island for sites and restaurants. Thank you again for your hospitality!

If I could give this tour 10 stars I would.. Vítor, our tour guide was so friendly, funny and informative. We ended the tour with a delicious Portuguese feast all prepared by his lovely wife. This is an amazing couple, do not hesitate to book this tour and we can’t wait to come back!

This was a fantastic tour. Victor is a wonderful tour guide. His years of experience is evident with the level of customer service provided. After the driving tour and stops at several locations, he and Hélia took us into their home for a feast meats, cheeses, homemade jams, and dessert with a wonderful discussion of the country and its traditions. Victor has a couple different tours including a military history tour that we were able to get a little of just because of the questions we were asking. We absolutely recommend this experience.

Excellent tour with Vitor, personable and knowledgeable guide. We visited the wine museum, tasted some fortified wine, viewed the vines, stopped by the natural pool and had a tasting of three wines hosted by Vitor and his wife and accompanied by cod fish cakes, cheese plate, freshly grilled sausage, and Dona ameilda cake.

The tour was fantastic. It wasn't just about the wine, we learned so many things about the island, land, culture and food. Our guide answered so many questions we had. The highlight was the meal at the end of the tour. Very casual, warm and the food was fantastic. I can't recommend the tour enough.
