Authentic Private Tunisian Cooking Experience in Sousse

Excellent time. Picked up with an interpreter. Visited the local market to purchase products. Welcoming hostess. Warm friendly atmosphere - wish i had known more of the language but the interpreter was very good. Expected to be several people but was just me. Would have liked a bit more hands on but enjoyed fully the experience and hospitality - including the written instructions of the dishes made. Visited lasted 5 hours including eating the meals made. Could not fault anything.

Fantastic authentic experience with the loveliest of people hosting! Starting with a welcoming pick up you drive into a local market where you meet the translator who takes you shopping! Then it’s on to the gorgeous home you will be cooking in where you meet a lovely Grandmother who guides you through each dish and how to make it and puts you to chopping! You all sit down together at the end and enjoy a delicious meal and a mint tea! Highly recommend this experience it was the highlight of our time in Tunisia!

Myself and my dad took part in the Authentic Private Cooking Experience in Sousse. We both had the most amazing time with Granny Mama encouraging us to fully immerse ourselves in this experience. After visiting the local market to buy provisions we helped make traditionally Tunisian cuisine eg salad, couscous and brik in a very friendly environment. We must also thank the interpreter who helped make our day. This is definitely a must do experience if you visit this area.

We went shopping for ingredients at a local market. It was a great experience especially because it was really authentic. No other tourists. The Mansion where we cooked together with the super friendly lady was beautiful and spacious. Cooking together, getting clear instructions but also information about the dishes gave us a great insight in how people cook and live. We felt immediately welcome!

My mum and I had a brilliant time on the cooking experience. The day began with being picked up by Amal who was our excellent guide and translator for the day. She was so friendly and helpful, and we learnt a lot about Tunisian culture from her. We were brought to a local market which was full of fresh produce before going back to the house where our workshop took place. It was so lovely to be welcomed into Sawsen's beautiful home, and she made us feel at home with some mint tea and makrouth pastries. With Amal's help, the cook (mother of Sawsen) showed us how to make a few Tunisian typical foods, producing a wonderful lunch! We were so pleased with the tasty food. Sawsen and Mami were so kind and generous. Communication with Amal and the Othentic team was friendly and efficient, and all our dietary requirements were catered for. Thank you Amal, Sawsen and Mami for such a unique day, that went well beyond our expectations!

This is a ‘must do’ for an authentic Tunisian culinary and cultural experience. Thoroughly enjoyed shopping for fresh local ingredients with host, Sawsen, and cooking the three delicious Tunisian dishes with the expertise of chef, Mami. With Amal, tour guide, they shared their vast knowledge of the ingredients and spices used, the local traditions with food, and gave insider tips for cooking the food to achieve the best results. From start to finish, the experience exceeded my expectations, was fun, and I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to try these dishes at home. I have had cooking experiences in other countries and this one has been the best by far.
