Authentic Croatian Food & Heritage Walk in a Small Group

Description
If you want to experience the vibrant local spirit and explore our city's culture through the lens of Croatian cuisine spiced up with little history, this tour is for you. Delve with us into Croatian culture and culinary traditions as we uncover the interplay between food and history. From uncovering the roots of why Croatians breathe the way they do to exploring the connections between food and historical events, you'll gain a deeper understanding of our table culture. Our tour isn't just about tasting delicious dishes; it's a journey filled with insights into why Croatian cuisine is so intertwined with our heritage. Along the way, we'll visit significant Zagreb landmarks, each with its own story to share and try a variety of traditional foods... and hopefully, my personal touch will as well enhance your experience, for just a little bit.

Itinerary
Our tour will start at King Tomislav Square. The reason for this is that it is also where the railway station is located, symbolizing travel, arrivals and departures, the merging of cultures, and the beginning of tourism. There, we will start our discussion about table culture, culinary habits, and Croatian dishes. And we will also have something to eat - on the go.
Zrinjevac is one of the most beautiful parks in Zagreb, reserved for relaxation by the locals. Additionally, it is historically significant as a fairground. There, we will continue our discussion about the flavors of Croatia and prepare for the next snack
In Petrinjska Street, you will get to know some more Croatian flavors in Heritage snack bar
Then we will pass through Ban Jelačić Square, also known as the main square of Zagreb. We will explain its historical significance, as well as that of Ban Jelačić.
After that, we will head to Dolac, the famous Zagreb market, where I will introduce you to the 'kumice' (local women sellers) and their products. We will discuss Croatian food customs, shopping habits, and weaknesses.
Our next stop will be a tavern dedicated to the Zagreb table, where we will taste specific dishes characteristic of our region, share them and get to know croatian cuisine even better
Afterwards, we will head to the most beautiful church in the city, the cathedral. Its majesty will tell us some historical stories and interesting facts
At the end of the tour, we will sweeten our taste buds with the currently most famous štrukli in the city, and don't worry, there will be space for it because sweetness goes straight to the heart.
On our way back to Ban Jelačić Square, we'll stroll through the charming and lively Radićeva Street, which will narrate some stories of Zagreb's pastry-making
Finally, we'll return to Ban Josip Jelačić Square and wrap up our gathering

This is a wonderful way to taste your way through typical Croatian food. Tea, our tour quite was phenomenal. She is extremely knowledgeable and shared her favorite foodie spots with us. We were a small group of 3 so she was able to be flexible with timing at each location. She even shared some homemade grappa/brandy with us. The sour cherry was amazing. Be prepared with empty stomachs as this tour provides a LOT of tastings followed by a lovely lunch of hearty Croatian food. We chose stuffed peppers, roasted turkey and grilled liver. It was YUMMY!!
This was one of the best food tours we have taken. Our guide Tea was amazing. You will learn the history of the food itself along with general history of the city & country. Tea also brought along a homemade baked good from her kitchen which was truly a special touch. She took very good care of us by asking us questions of what type of restaurants we liked (casual vs more full meals, wines, beer, or cocktails), so she could give us recommendations for the rest of our week in Zagreb. The next day you will receive all the information of where you went on the tour and all her recommendations on WhatsApp. Seriously, please go on this tour hungry as there is much food to be eaten.
Best food tour I have ever been on. Tea is a born and breed Zagreb local who is a true foodie and very in touch with the current food scene in Zagreb. If you want a truly local experience this is the tour for you. Not only do you get to try the best of traditional Croatian food in Zagreb, she also gives you recommendations for the rest of the hot spots in Croatia. Run, don’t walk to book this tour.
Tea was a great guide. Very informative and fun walking tour of the city. I would recommend eating a light breakfast (if at all). There will be a lot of food along the way…
We had the absolute best time with Tea as our food and culture guide!! She showed us the best of the best, and we continued to use her recommendations for the other cities we visited after Zagreb, which never disappointed. If you only do one thing in Zagreb, make it this one!! Also come hungry!
After a scheduling mishap guide Tea was very flexible to reschedule. The tour was great featuring a lot of delicious Croatian food (don’t have too big of a breakfast because before!). Tea was also very warm, understanding, knowledgeable, and resourceful. Being that it is also a small group (in fact I was the only participant) also gave this tour a more personable feel. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to do a day activity in Zagreb and to have a full taste of Croatian/Balkan cuisine!
Wow! This was a wow experience! Tea was a fantastic guide. She has clearly done her homework. She started by getting us acclimated to Zagreb then took us out exploring. Everything was perfect. We tried small cafes, a fancy coffee shop, and local gems. If you take this tours come hungry!
Tea is amazing guide- so knowledgeable and friendly! And so many foods to try! You will leave VERY full! Highly recommend!
We had an unforgettable food tour of the city with Tea, our amazing guide! I do a food tour in almost every city I visit - get some countries favorites. This tour was exceptional, not only because of the food but the guide. Tea was one of the best tour guides I had. She was informative, attentive, knowledgeable, overall, the BEST.
You think the title is joking. We are not! Our guide, Tea, was amazing. She was not only personable and lovely to be around but she really took time and effort to curate the perfect gastronomic tour in Zagreb. She was our best friend for half a day. We were fortunate that it was only the three of us that spent the next four and a half hours together walking, talking, eating, and drinking our way through the city. From home-made treats to sampling food at iconic locations and local restaurants in the centre of Zagreb, sharing stories with her contacts at the local shops plus meeting local characters on this knowledge filled adventure . It was a masterpiece.
