Superb day out, great to see impressive natural waterfalls, wild monkeys, and even a glimpse of a wild elephant. A very helpful and knowledgeable driver helped us through the day, explaining where we need to go and the best ways to achieve it. Word of warning though, the walk to the falls is tiring along steep cobbled pavement, so not really for anybody with any sort of limited mobility Best to visit on a weekday as the weekends get very busy
We had a driver, not a tour guide, who was a bit difficult to understand because of his accent but he was a good driver who drove us over 5 hours that day. The water fall was easy to get to but not too impressive. No review or discussion of our itinerary at the beginning of the trip so we were all guess what we would be doing all day.
Ahmed Masood was an excellent guide and driver. Very professional and customer friendly. Excellent half day excursion overall. Nicely designed trip.
Our “tour guide” who was the driver was unwell, bad cold, wheezing throughout, almost fell asleep multiple times and was very aggressive on the road. He could barely speak English and was not very communicative or friendly. We were so stressed with his behavior that we opted to skip the lunch and go back to the hotel. It was such a waste of money and nothing like the description offered on the website. We felt that his driving was extremely aggressive on the winding roads and his cold was bad. I would like a refund of the money spent. It was an expensive but very poor quality tour.
While the falls were impressive, though very crowded, a couple of things led to me rate this trip poorly. Firstly, I was asked to pay an additional 100 rupees to bring my camera to the hanging bridge which I refused to pay since I had already paid AUD150 for the day. No charge for a phone cameras. WTF?? I had already paid the entry fee to the hanging bridge which was not refunded. This was just one of many tourist rip-offs I experienced in India. Secondly, the drive to and from the falls was unsafe and unpleasant. I was very relieved to get back to my hotel.
Private tour with car and driver. Long drive about 2 hours, crowded waterfalls. Very average tour. Very average lunch.
The falls were okay but not spectacular. The drive there and back was a good 5 hours. Our driver drove well but unfortunately remained silent the whole time and did not explain anything or tell about the city. Lunch was very good but now comes the sticking point. We would have to pay ourselves and not included as described. Organizer has not responded to my request to date.
We’ve seen beautiful waterfalls, the driver was professional and the place was full of nice monkeys.
The Athirapilly falls are spectacular and well worth the 2 hour drive, the latter part being through palm oil, rubber and pineapple plantations. Depending on your preference you might want to swap the second falls for a trip to the beach, but not before having the resort lunch which was fantastic. We also had a careful and courteous driver. The only negative factor was a total absence of communication from Safrn tours.
I had booked my tour for Sunday 22 SEP & received the confirmation email. An hour after scheduled pick up and the driver had not arrived. Using the in-app function to contact the vendor was to no avail as they were not open on Sundays, so I had to install WhatsApp to contact Viator. Thankfully I did soon receive a call from the vendor, saying there had been a technical issue and the hadn't received the notice from Viator (how did it becomes confirmed). The tour was rescheduled for the following day. Although I did receive my tour, a day of my vacation was lost. Of the tour itself, the waterfalls were a wonderful sight, and there were none of the usual 'shopping stops' that tend to take place on these tours. My driver Mahsood was friendly & professional.
