Cerro Toco summit

It was very windy near the top but the guides were careful about safety.

Amazing views… well run but be ready for the impact of the altitude

Guides, JP and Brian setup a WhatsApp group the evening before the 7am pickup. They gave us a quick walk at 4500m to “check us out” before the drive upto about the start point at 5200m. They were clear on gear, hydration and food intake and talked about symptoms of altitude sickness. They paced the walk up very well with 2 stops to drink and adjust gear. They clearly know how to pace at 5000+m altitude. Everyone enjoyed fantastic views from the top. Thanks guys. A great trip

Brilliant

Great experience. Climb not too difficult apart from a bit of breathlessness. Fantastic views and great sense of achievement. Our guide JP was fantastic - really looked after everyone and when I left my scarf in his scarf at the end came back and dropped it off at my hotel.

Cerro Toco Summit

It was the hardest but most rewarding experience I’ve had. The altitude is no joke! I’m in good shape, but this hike really tested me. I was a bit dizzy, and my heart was pounding most of the way up, but Carlos our guide was awesome and kept us motivated to reach the summit . 5604 meters ( 18,390 ft) is the highest elevation I’ve been, and probably will ever be, lol. I highly recommend this tour, and hope you have Carlos as your guide . He was the best!

Good hike, disorganised operator

The actual hike was fine and our guides were very nice. However, the organisation of the tour leaves much to be desired. I had contacted the company through both Viator and via their direct channels with my pick up location and told it was no problem. However, I decided to stop by their office in San Pedro de Atacama to confirm because they were slow to respond and provide a pick up time. At the office, their representative gave me the wrong pick up time and also did not have my pick up location on file. Ultimately, it took a lot of back and forth to ensure that all the information was correct. Once the hiking guides took over, everything was fine.
