We have been to the opera in the arena at Verona before and it’s always proved magical. Not this time. There was a huge brilliantly lit mobile camera suspended overhead on cables. Not only was this intrusive and distracting, it obscured the lead performer on multiple occasions. Would gladly have set about it with my trusty 4lb hammer. While individual performances were wonderful, the production was poor. “Moulin Rouge” dancing was no substitute for waltz during the drinking song (Act 1). After that, it began to drag until the final act. Rather doubt we’ll go again. A great shame.
The Opera at the Roman Arena in Verona, Italy is absolutely unforgettable. In the past I have seen and more importantly heard Verdi's Aida, Puccini's Madame Butterfly, and Bizet's Carmen. Stunning performances all. During Aida it started to rain in the open air Arena so we ran for coffee and cake then returned when the summer showers subsided. Che musical, eh?
It was magical! The experience was Lovely. The singing was beautiful and the atmosphere was out of straight out of a storybook. They sell seat mats outside we bought one each. It was needed sitting on the stone for a long tme and a great souvenir. When. We left the performance and the singers were singing in the town. It just echoed was wonderful.
Pay more for a seat because even though they say the acoustics allow you to hear it all at times you can’t. So the performance becomes disjointed. It’s an amazing experience but would if doing again pay for better seats
Most unprofessional company I have ever booked with. I booked through Biator but now being told I have to go through Arena Di Verona foundation for refund
Magnificent arena, magical hot night, terrible opera. Singers and sound were poor and the director tried a modern take on Nambucco which was very unsatisfactory. hideous costumes and set
The venue was beautiful, the set-up gorgeous, but they canceled due to rain and put on an interrupted, uncomfortable, and mediocre show. The orchestra is disgusting. If they're not going to put on a good show because of the rain, they'd better cancel it and not give us a hard time with their mediocrity.
Paid over $125 for Verona opera seats that were supposed to have plastic seats with backs. Instead got seating on boulders with no backs and learned tickets would have been $65 if bought directly from opera site vendor. Very disappointed.
Hi Dear, the product title is Arena di Verona Opera Ticket Package. You did not buy only the ticket for the Opera. Your ticket was clearly in 6th sector category that were never been supposed to be on plastic seats with backs. Here below the public information everybody see before buy the package. You have included: - Ticket for Opera in Arena di Verona (6th category seats) - Verona City Guide walking tour (1 hour) start at 18:00 - Only if requested. Ticket for public transport to be used the day after - Assistance at gate number 7 As you can see, you had also a 1 hour walking city tour with Verona official guide. Considering all of these, the rate you paid it's the cheapest offer you can find on the internet. Im sorry, but you cannot find anywhere a ticket for opera with a city guided tour at 56€ per person. if you only wanted the opera ticket, you should have bought it somewhere else. here you bought a package of services, clearly specified as well as the category of the ticket.
We saw the operas Aida and Nabucco on consecutive dates at the Verona Arena. It was an unforgettable experience. However, there was always the threat of rain and thunderstorms and the performance being abandoned. Aida went smoothly but Nabucco had to be stopped halfway due to rain. Fortunately, my friend and I had rain ponchos with us and we also wrapped the cushions we were sitting on, in plastic. Most of the audience had to run for cover and most left. We continued to wait in the arena and were rewarded as the performance started after about 2 hrs when the rain stopped. It is high time that the Verona city or the opera organisers do something about this. At least provide cover to the orchestra and the stage so that the performance can continue if the rain isn't heavy.
Carmen opera experience was spectacular, amazing venue and seats allowed for a good view, but buying a cushion is highly recommended for a 3 hr opera..if sitting on the stone circle seats. Our only/big disappointment was that we were sold an arena tour and opera package, but instead were given a 1 hour walking tour of Verona ( which we had already done ourselves all day) with our tickets…so we felt we had overpaid for something we didn’t really want. Pity to have missed a historical tour of the arena too.
