There is nothing special except the costumes & make-up. Even the food served was average though the price is too high. Most of the tourists were busy with food only after 1 or 2 dances.

Our guide, Marin, took excellent care of us! He arrived at our hotel with a tuk-tuk to take us to dinner and the dance show downtown. It was a really fun night because Marin handled everything for us! All we had to do was enjoy the show full of dancers with great music and interesting costumes. The only reason I can't give this an excellent review is because the tour promised us authentic Cambodian food. The night we went, February 5, the dinner dance was a beautiful hotel poolside, but the buffet was had all Western food. Since it was our last night in Cambodia, we wanted something more authentic to eat. After the show, Marin arranged for us to tour the night market and Pub Street area. He was patient with us as we walked around and took great care to get us safely back to our hotel after a fun, full night. Thanks, Marin!

We were recommended by friends to experience an Apsara show through a boutique venue rather than the larger, more popular attraction. But, I think we may have chosen the wrong one. Instead of taking place at a restaurant, this one took place at a hotel outdoors by the swimming pool. It was an odd setting that we weren't prepared for. Such as the fact that I didn't bring bug spray thinking we'd be eating indoors, but instead got bit quite a lot while sitting out by the pool. The food was okay, but not exactly local cuisine, as it was more of a mix of western and Asian dishes. As for the show, it was also okay, but rather slow at first and just didn't seem very professional given the venue. That said, the costumes of the dancers were gorgeous and they did a good job. Other Apsara shows cost much less. This one was more expensive because it included tuk tuk to the night market and pub street. But one could easily hire a tuk tuk to go there after a show and pay much less.
