The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) that gives Wilpattu a genuine wilderness feeling. Sloth bears, spotted deer, wild pigs, and crocodiles are frequent sightings. We had a great experience in Wilpattu. We were picked up on time and on arrival were assigned a safari car and driver for just the two of us. They provided us with a nice breakfast (which we had overlooking a beautiful lake with a crocodile and various birds). Later we were also given lunch and snacks. Our driver tried his best to show us everything we wanted. We saw elephants and to our delight, two leopards as well as many other animals. The landscape is stunning, the roads bumpy and the day long but it was totally worth it. Tip: it's chilly in the early morning, so bring something with sleeves if you don't want to feel uncomfortably cold.
