We thought long and hard about whether to do a small group or private tour. In the end, we went on a private tour and we are glad we did. Our guide Darun and our driver Sim were a delight to be with for our 2 days of tours in Siem Reap. Our first day on the Sunrise Tour required pickup at 4:30 am from our hotel (which would likely have been even earlier on a group tour). Darun greeted us and we headed straight to Angkor Wat, arriving around 5am at the entrance, and guided to the viewing area in front of the lake/moat early enough to score a seat on the wooden deck just to the right of the main walkway to the temple. Absolutely beautiful views of the temple and its reflection in the water. Sunrise for us was at about 5:40 am and even though it was rather cloudy, we did capture some mesmerizing views of the bright orange morning sun rising over the left side of the main temple just before it disappeared into the clouds around 6 am. For our 2nd day, Darun let us customize it a bit. It was supposed to be a day of temple tours concluding with a sunset view. However, we didn't want to be out and about in the early afternoon when it was the hottest (currently highs in the 35degC/95degF range with extreme humidity). We decided on a 9am start with a few hours of temple tours including Banteay Srei, an afternoon break back at the hotel, then a part 2 sunset viewing in the countryside around 5-6:30 pm. Unfortunately, it was so cloudy in the evening that we didn't see any sunset, but our guide shared some local Cambodian beers with us and had a friendly conversation, then dropped us off back in the city for dinner. Overall, we really enjoyed our 2 days of temple highlights. A private tour is definitely the way to go if you don't mind spending a bit extra for the flexibility, the extra special attention, avoiding crowded tour buses, waiting on others in your party in the hot weather, etc. Darun provided good background and history of Cambodia and the temples. Our driver Sim was always at the ready with plenty of chilled bottled water and refreshing towels. Highly recommended!

We arrived in the early morning yo witness sunrise at Angkor Wat. Sam ensured we were in the right spot for dawn's early light. For sunrise, we moved across the rainbow bridge, across the moat and within the next city wall. We were able to capture great pics and then moved to spots where a higher sun could be captured. Extensive info was shared as we toured what was accessible within the temple. It was a great experience!

Super late review, but absolutely incredible experience. My wife and I still rave about it and recommend it to everyone we talk about travel with 1.5 years later. Mork was a knowledgeable and amazing guide and you could tell how passionate and knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area he is.
Leang gave a fantastic private tour for myself and a group of friends. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the temples, the meaning behind the engravings and was able to share more widely about Cambodia and any other question we threw at him. Leang and the driver were also accommodating to add on to the tour at the end, to add on the floating villages. Thanks for the great tour 👍🏼
