Anakkulam Wild Elephant Visiting(Jeep tour)

My wife & I had a great experience on our jeep tour with this company. The driver was exceptionally friendly, helpful, safe, informative, and patient. Recommended!

We had a great day exploring the mountains around Munnar. Our guide Suriya is an exceptional driver and has excellent timing — he got us to the elephants moments after they arrived at the river and he got us to the sunset viewpoint just in time for sunset. We also enjoyed standing in the waterfall (I’d recommend wearing a swimsuit under your clothes—the changing room was dark and wet) and getting in a sneaky zip line ride was an extra bonus. The elephants were the highlight. Recommend!

You get picked up by a driver and a guide in a jeep and drive approx 90 minutes along a scenic route to a spot in Annakulam to wait there and hopefully see elephants. On the way there the guide will occasionally tell you some semi-interesting things. You can also choose to pay an extra fee to see a waterfall (not included in the tour price). We were very lucky to see one elephant just outside of Munnar, but at the actual site we didn’t see any after waiting a couple of hours in the dark. This of course is not the fault of the organizers. But overall I wouldn’t recommend this tour for the price. I’m sure you can get to Anakulam for cheaper somehow. No guide needed.

What a difference a good tour guide makes! My wife and I took the Anakkulam wild elephant tour which encompasses a visit to a location frequented by wild elephants and stops at a pleasant waterfall Phillip, our guide was knowledgeable patient and eager to ensure the best experience possible. We had a long wait for the elephants, poor road conditions and the threat of rain….which never happened! Always Phillip was cheerful and intent on making the best of the time available. It helped that his English language skills were great. His knowledge and enthusiasm for bird-spotting and identification of trees, plants and the local customs and social dynamics elevated the level of enjoyment we gained and it filled in the gaps between travel destinations nicely. So thanks and congratulations to the tour operator, Phillip and his driver for a great experience

It was fun and exciting to watch elephants congregate and then come drink in the river. Great experience and fun to bring kids along as well.

I had an unforgettable trip to see the wild elephants in Anakulam, all thanks to the incredible guide who was a third generation local. From the moment we started, he made sure I experienced the true beauty of Munnar, even going beyond the tour description including taking me to see a the homes of the tea plantation workers. His knowledge of the local culture, wildlife, and history made the trip even more special. Plus, he was super friendly, patient and helpful. If you’re looking for a guide who goes the extra mile to make your trip unique and memorable, I highly recommend these tour guides. Thank you for an amazing experience! Ask for Balu. He is very patient and not pushy and will take his time at each stop and explain. Also the elephants could take some time but it’s worth it

This was a great half day tour that took us out of Munnar to see the beautiful countryside . Balu drove us in a jeep and we stopped to look at some tea plantation villages and spices growing in the wild . We also stopped at a waterfall for a swim. Then on to an area where elephants come in the evening. They arrive when they are ready and we were delighted that they did. Bali was a fantastic friendly knowledgable guide. Highly recommend this trip.

Balu was a fabulous guide. He took us through the area he has lived all his life, educated us about tea and spices, and when the elephants were late in arriving and we had given up hope and started the journey home, he got a message about 8pm that they were coming and he turned the keep round to allow us to see them. Great tour, great guide.

We had a brilliant day with our guide Balu on the jeep safari. He was an expert driver - very safe, and the jeep was in good condition and comfortable. Balu was very knowledgeable about the area, its history, the plants and wildlife. We learned a lot from him! We saw some beautiful views of tea plantations, a waterfall, tried some cardamom and coffee beans straight from the plant, and to top it off saw a herd of elephants!
