Built in the 1650s by the second Ya’rubi, Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'rubi, with roots going back to the 12th century, this fortress is Oman's most popular national monument. It was the administrative center for Imams and Walis during peace and conflict. Taking about 12 years to complete, the fort sits above an underground stream and symbolizes the town's importance in Oman's history. It served as a strong defense against invaders seeking Nizwa's wealth and strategic location.
Nizwa Souq is a bustling marketplace in the heart of Nizwa, Oman. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, the souq offers a diverse range of traditional Omani products such as handicrafts, pottery, textiles, spices, and silverware. A amazing day with an amazing guide. Ticked off sooo many boxes of what we wanted to see. We would do it again in a heartbeat!
This trip was such a great and memorable experience in Oman! Our guide was Hamza, very knowledgeable, kind and patient and an excellent driver! We visited all the sites, Hamza gave us enough time to enjoy and was assisting us when we wanted to buy or choose something. I strongly recommend this tour, the company Web tours is reliable and the guide Hamza is very professional. Oman is a beautiful country and has a lot to offer!
Spent a great day with Yousef. What made it great for us is that we felt like meeting a professional guide but also a person who is really interested in telling you the story and his perspective of the places we saw. We could ask about many things and had some nice conversations about history culture and current reality in Oman. We were not overwhelmed by information that you could find on internet but rather enjoyed a company that made our day. Definitely to recommend.
First it was a great experience and it worth every penny paid with a full day enjoyment Second Hamza the guide in charge is a great person who becomes a brother for us with his humbleness and behavior, he guided us properly and his driving skills with safety steps, the way he describe the importance of locations we visits and his polite behavior was extremely helpful and liked. Thanks a lot and sure we will choose you for another trip challenge in the nearest future. Thanks Hamza for your time and assistance.
We had an amazing day with our guide, Ahmed. We explored Nizwa, sampling some traditional delicacies with locals who were all very welcoming. The Fort was very impressive. Jebel Akhdar was stunning and felt like a different world. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Fully recommended!
We had such a great time on this private tour to Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar. The itinerary was well-paced, the scenery was stunning, and the whole experience felt thoughtfully put together -- but what really made the day special was our guide, Ahmed. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. He shared so much insight about Omani culture, history, and daily life, and was always happy to answer our questions or adjust the itinerary to suit our interests. It felt like spending the day with a local friend who genuinely wanted us to enjoy his country. We came away from the tour with wonderful memories, awesome souvenirs (the Nizwa souk! the small halwa treats! exactly what I'd been looking for and Ahmed knew exactly where to take me to find them), and a deeper appreciation for Oman. Highly recommend!
Ahmed was an excellent guide. My friend and I felt safe and looked after, and we got a crash course in Omani history. We explored the souk, bought dates and condiments, ceramics and fragrances. Then we moved on to the castle and fort. After we finished Nizwa we saw the Falaj in Birkat Al Mouz and finally drove into the mountains to Jebel Akhdar. Roses had just started blooming. Although it was Ramadan and Ahmed was fasting he ensured we had a great trip. Views were spectacular right from our doorstep in Muscat till we were dropped back. Thank you.
We had a great time with Ahmed (owner of the company). He was very professional and knew about the history of the town! Any questions that we had, he had the answers to them! Most recommended! Lunch at a very good place was included in the private tour and also the evening snack was included.
What an amazing day! We saw so much and learned so much about the beautiful oman nature and rich culture from yousef. He was a wonderful and knowlegeable guide and conversation partner. First being introduced to the exqusite scents at amouage for a start , then a literally great taste of oman, learning about omani food on the way. We highly recommend this daytrip to nizwa and the green mountain to experience the oman spirit.
I had a great trip with Yousef! He was very helpful and friendly. He took the time to explain the various stops along the way, and provided additional context regarding Omani culture and traditions. I highly recommend this tour! I was also able to arrange with the guide a drop off at a hotel in Jabal Akhdar, for added flexibility.
